Are your eyes feeling a little itchy?

Maybe you thought it was just a long day or too much screen time. But then the redness came, and the watery eyes wouldn’t stop.

Sound familiar? You might be dealing with more than just tired eyes. Allergies are a common culprit, and your eyes are often the first to react. Pollen, dust, and pet dander can leave them feeling sore, itchy, and irritated.

A few simple steps can help. Try lubricating eye drops, keep windows closed on high pollen days, and wash your hands after spending time outdoors.

If your eyes are still feeling uncomfortable, don’t ignore it. Visit your local optometrist or GP to get it sorted.

Our team also recently attended the International Orthoptic Congress in Brisbane, where our very own Dr Susie Luu shared her insights on Biometry and Ultrasound in children, demonstrating how these tests aid in diagnosing and managing complex paediatric eye conditions.

Alongside her, our brilliant orthoptists Shandell Moore and Vanetta Polyak joined hundreds of orthoptists from around the world, soaking up new research and ideas in vision therapy and orthoptics.

We’re proud to bring this knowledge back to Eyemedics, so every patient we see receives care that’s informed by the latest expertise and delivered with genuine heart.

From June 29 to July 1, our team attended the APSPOS 2025 Congress in Brisbane, connecting with leading paediatric ophthalmologists from across Asia-Pacific.

Dr Susie Luu presented on optic nerve pathology and paediatric strabismus, sharing her insights to improve early detection and treatment.

Associate Professor Jamie Craig spoke on genetics in paediatric glaucoma, highlighting how genetic understanding helps in managing complex childhood glaucoma cases.

With Dr Katie Billing, Dr Shilpa Kuruvilla, and our orthoptist Shandell Moore also attending, our team continues to learn and lead the way in paediatric eye care. We’re so proud of their dedication to bringing back the latest knowledge to support children’s vision here in South Australia.

At Eyemedics, we believe that every child deserves a future they can see clearly, and that’s what drives our passion every single day.

Do your eyes feel tired halfway through the day?

You’re not imagining it. Blurred vision, sore eyes, and even neck tension are common signs of digital eye strain, especially when you're spending hours in front of a screen.

The good news? A few small changes can make a big difference:
👀 Adjust your screen height and distance
💡 Cut down glare from overhead lighting
🖥️ Follow the 20-20-20 rule! Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds

If you’re spending more than two hours a day on a screen, this is your cue to check in with your eye health. Your eyes will thank you.

You wouldn’t skip a car service, so why skip an eye check? 👓

Just like your car, your eyes need regular care to keep everything running smoothly. And JulEYE is your reminder to stop, check in on your vision, and book that eye exam you've been putting off.

Many eye conditions don’t show signs until it’s too late. Regular check-ups give you the best chance to catch issues early and protect your vision for the long term.

If it’s been more than two years since your last test, now is the perfect time to make an appointment.

Throughout July, we’ll also be sharing simple tips to help ease screen strain and support your everyday eye health. 😍

So let’s use this month to take better care of our eyes. It all starts with one small step.

Cloudy vision, glare from lights or trouble reading?

If these sound familiar, it could be more than just age. Cataracts are a leading cause of vision loss, and they often creep in without pain or warning.

The good news? Cataracts can be diagnosed early and treated effectively with surgery. And the sooner they're caught, the better your outcome.

At Eyemedics, we’re here to bring awareness to cataracts. If you’ve noticed changes in your sight, don’t wait. Book an appointment with your optometrist today.

Round Two at KX Pilates! 💪

Last Friday, the Eyemedics team returned to the reformers and let’s just say, the energy was high and the glutes were working overtime.

This was our second group session, and it’s been incredible to see how much the team has embraced it. We’re loving the movement, the laughs, and yes, even the post-Pilates soreness.

Here’s to staying strong, connected, and just a little wobbly. 💙

Men are often the last to book a check-up, especially for their eyes. But do you realise that eye health significantly impacts your driving, work, and overall safety?

Some serious eye conditions show no symptoms until it’s too late. Regular check-ups can catch early warning signs of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and more.

An eye test takes 20 minutes, but the impact lasts for years. This Men’s Health Week, do it for yourself and those around you. Book an eye test with your local optometrist. 💙

This week, we are celebrating the incredible work of orthoptists and the essential role they play in eye health care.

At Eyemedics, we’re proud to have a dedicated team of seven orthoptists who support patients every day. They’re the experts who diagnose and manage complex eye movement disorders, support low vision rehabilitation, and help patients achieve better vision outcomes.

Their knowledge and high level of care really make a real difference in the lives of our patients, and we’re grateful for all they do.

Yesterday, we spilled the tea all in the name of a good cause! ☕🧁

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea made itself right at home across all our Eyemedics locations, and what a deliciously fun day it was! There were cupcakes for everyone, a contested lolly jar guessing game, and raffle excitement that kept everyone on their toes.

By pouring a cup and sharing a bite, we helped support Cancer Council’s vital work in cancer research and care. Coming together over morning tea reminded us just how powerful a small act of support can be.

A big shoutout to our amazing teams for coming together. We’re proud to be brewing up hope and changing lives, one cuppa at a time 💙
