Chinese herbal medicine, consultation, acupuncture, teas, creams, ointments, oils, moxibustion, tuina and more! What is Chinese Medicine? Chinese Medicine is a complete medical system which has developed and has been practiced for more than three thousand years. Unfortunately with the cultural gap between many other countries in the world for centuries, the merits

of Chinese Medicine have until very recently been limited within its original birthplace. Chinese Medicine has established upon its own philosophy and pathology a system of physiology, diagnosis, and approaches, as was described in Huangdi Neijing (Canon of Medicine ) of the Warring States Period (475-221 BC). Researches from the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) record performances of surgical operations using certain Chinese herbs as analgesic. Chinese Medicine covers the treatment of diseases with:
1. Natural medicinal substances such as herbs and minerals,
2. Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Cupping,
3. Bone setting,
4. Tuina (or therapeutic massage),
5. Dietary,
6. Exercise therapy, and
7. Qi Gong (internal exercises), etc

The World Heath Organisation, WHO reports that: “Traditional Medicine remains the major source of health care for more than two-thirds to three-quarters of the world’s population.” (WHO Traditional medicine, Report by the Director-General, EB 63/WP/2.,15 Nov., 1978,PP. 2 & 9). Being one of the oldest forms of medicine, Chinese Medicine has been repeatedly tested and proved effective through the accumulated rich experience in its long history of development. Additionally, with the development of integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in China, Chinese Medicine of today is even serving more people than before. --- Chinese Medicine practitioners of nowadays, having been trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine plus all the Western sciences, would prefer to be known as Chinese Medicine practitioners, to mark this development of the new era. Can chinese medicine help with a cold?

Yes! But why is it so hard to get "100% better" from a cold? In terms of Chinese Medicine, symptoms of a cold can be grouped into "cold" or "hot" symptoms. For example, cold symptoms include clear or white nasal discharge / phlegm, feelings of cold sensation, cold hands and feet etc. Hot symptoms include fever, yellow or green (indicating an infection in Western medicine) nasal discharge / phelgm etc. Most of the time, colds have symptoms of both hot and cold signs - which is why "differential diagnosis" is so important and you need a combination of herbs (or a modified formula) to actually get better. A good TCM doctor should diagnose your condition correctly (hot/cold), and use correct herbs specific to your symptoms and conditions.
Why not give it a go?

We've been seeing a lot of cold and flu cases lately! This usually happens when there are extreme weather changes, or it's been overly cold/hot. We just went through a heatwave (thankfully, it's much cooler now), so it's no wonder we've had a lot of "wind heat" cases lately. If you've experienced some cold/flu symptoms that seem to linger- it's a good idea to pop in and see us for a consult for some prescribed herbs to clear lung heat 😀 have a great weekend everyone!
