Dry July isn’t just about going alcohol-free for a month, it also raises awareness for those affected by cancer.

Going alcohol-free or even reducing alcohol intake for a month can make a big difference to your sleep, energy and overall wellbeing.

Saying no to alcohol intake for just a few weeks can result in weight loss, enhanced mental clarity and reduced anxiety. Just a few great reasons to go dry this July.

When it comes to private health insurance, the terms exclusion and restriction can make a big difference — especially when you need treatment.

🔍 Exclusion = Not covered at all for a treatment (e.g. no cover for joint replacements).
⚠️ Restriction = Very limited cover (e.g. joint replacement only in a public hospital, not private — which could mean big out-of-pocket costs).

At Police Health, our Hospital cover has no exclusions and no restrictions (aside from standard waiting periods) — because your future health needs shouldn’t be a guessing game.

PTSD doesn’t always leave visible scars — but its impact can be deep and lasting, especially for those in the policing community who face trauma or are exposed to trauma in the line of duty.

Today is National PTSD Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, its impact, and how it can be treated. Around 1.5 million Australians will be affected by PTSD at any given point, so it is vital that we learn more about recognising the signs of PTSD, asking for help and supporting those who are recovering from PTSD: https://www.phoenixaustralia.org/ptsd-awareness-day/

If you, or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, know that there is help available, and that you are never alone. đź’™

Today marks the start of Men’s Health Week — a time to focus on the full picture of men’s health: physical strength, mental wellbeing, and emotional resilience.

For those serving in the policing community, the environments around you — at work, home, and with mates — have a real impact on your health.

This week, take a moment to check in with a mate, a colleague, or yourself. Sometimes, a simple conversation can be the first step to better health.

Your health matters — and we’re here to support it.

Today, we take a moment to recognise the everyday heroes in our communities — our first responders.

From police officers and paramedics to firefighters and rescue crews, your courage and commitment keep us safe.

At Police Health, we see you. We thank you. And we stand with you, every step of the way.

If you know a first responder, why not drop them a message of thanks today? It’s a small act that means a lot.

Together, let’s show our gratitude for those who put service before self.

Run by police for police.

We’re Police Health – Australia’s only private health fund run by police for police. We’ve been looking after the health and wellbeing of the police community for 85 years.

If you’re part of Australia’s police community you’ll appreciate that the unexpected, critical and severe can like just around the corner, which is why we only offer top cover as we believe anything less would be a disservice to you.

With over 60,000 members Australia-wide, we’re the health fund of choice for police officers and their families. If you’d like to enjoy the peace-of-mind those many police officers and their families enjoy, get in touch. We’re here to help.
