I’m acting in a play! 🫨🎭

Something I haven’t done since high school — and even then, I was too shy to truly throw myself into it.

But now, at 52, I’m saying yes to things that stretch me. ✨️

I'm happy and excited to nudge at the edges of my comfort zone and do things that are a bit scary but awaken parts of me that have been quietly waiting for their moment.

Because this is what keeps us alive — fully alive.

Not just existing, but expressing!

Not just going through the motions, but saying yes to what makes our hearts flutter (and maybe our stomachs flip, too!).

There’s definitely something powerful about gently challenging ourselves — not with pressure or perfectionism, but with curiosity, courage and a sense of play.

It might be dancing again (anotherfun things ive been doing more of lately!), or saying what you really feel, trying something you’ve always admired in others or just wearing those bold earrings.

Or Singing louder. Or even resting more, because that for sooo many women IS a real challenge!

Extending ourselves is what keeps us alive — fully alive! 🥰🎊✨️

So let's keep meeting our edges with kindness, and then taking one step further… into joy, into truth, into our own becoming.

Here’s to being brave, a little wobbly, and fully alive.

I was working with a client a few weeks ago who was tired of living with uncomfortable belly boating.

She'd feel fine in the mornings, but by early evening her clothes felt tight, her belly was puffy and bloated, and she was often in pain.

As we went thought her daily habits and meals, we discovered she had some habits that were causing this bloating.

She believed she was eating well (and most of the time she was!), and making healthy choices, especially as she was trying to lose a little belly fat too.

But there was one 'lil habit that was not right for the stage of life she's in, (mid 40's), nor for this cold winter season, and they weren't helping her shed those few kilo's either.

What was it?

Well, by mid afternoon, after sitting at her desk for hours, she was restless and felt like a snack.

To be 'healthy' she chose rice thins, with humous. Sometimes with some raw carrot or celery sticks.

But, not only are these foods all cold, light, and drying, which increase the Vata WIND element, we also discovered that she wasn't even hungry at this time. She was restless and bored and felt like the snack just to distract herself!

Raw, cold, dry and light foods all increase Vata and create bloating in the gut.

Eating when we are not hungry also weakens digestion and cause more bloating.

And all of this was happening in the Vata time of day, between 2 and 6pm, when the Air element is most prevalent.

So, the simple and effective remedy to reduce her belly bloating, was to swap out the snack with a herbal tea, or simply hot water. If she was hungry and needed some food, then some stewed fruit (pre-prepared) or a bliss ball, or some instant miso soup would do the trick, and tithe her over until dinner.

I also recommended she go for a walk to break up the monotony of sitting for long periods.

Vata wants hydration, warmth, and grounding; especially at the middle of the afternoon slump time when we often reach for a snack, or sugar as a pick me up.

Sipping hot water throughout the day, between meals, is another really easy habit that supports happier digestion and reduces bloating. Clients have often commented how doing this is a real game changer for them!

Happily after only a few days of doing this simple habit my client's belly is much happier and she is so much more comfortable in her clothes again!

And her weight is slowly coming down!

Don’t wait until you lose your buffer to take care of yourself! 😮

Perimenopause exacerbates any niggling health issues because our buffer hormones, estrogen and progesterone are declining.

Progesterone strengthens our bones, stabilises moods and blood sugars and supports balanced estrogen....

but levels start dropping from the age of 35 and decline more quickly when there is high stress.

Estrogen keeps us juicy and is excellent at covering up our weak spots.

Flash back 10 years.... I was 42, and wasn’t even thinking about Menopause but I knew I was out of balance with insomnia, hot, flushes, anxiety and irregular periods.

I wish, before then, that I was taught what I know now.... it's how we treat and tend to ourselves leading up Perimenopause that determines our experience.

Ignore those little health niggles in our early 40’s, and when perimenopause comes, they don't go away, they just get louder.

I see too many women who put their own needs last (like I did), and hope their health issues resolve by themselves or once they’re through menopause.

But what if we turn towards ourselves BEFORE menopause to bring balance and ease to our life?

What if you put yourself in the centre of your life NOW and take care of those niggling health issues....
bloating, headaches, PMS, irregular cycles, poor sleep, joint pain, thyroid issues, weight gain.... before you lose your buffers!

It’s much easier to create balance BEFORE you're in the thick of perimenopause.

It's time to turn towards yourself.

Sharing the sad news of Dr Krishna Kumar's passing.

An Adelaide Icon, teacher, practitioner, and passionate advocate for Ayurveda in Australia.

Dr. Krishna was my teacher and friend. His passion and tireless work brought Ayurveda government recognition and accreditation.

He was wise, humble, generous and humorous.

I am forever grateful to him for gifting me with the wisdom of Ayurveda, which has influenced, enhanced, and guided over half of my life and become my Dharma, my passion and purpose.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Olga and his family.

May his soul be free, at peace, and expanded.

He will live on in many people heart's, and in mine.
