Big news for people experiencing homelessness. 🧡

We’re grateful to the Peter Malinauskas Government and Minister Nat Cook MP who have committed an additional $2 million in untied funding to Hutt St Centre.

We are choosing to use this much needed funding boost to strengthen and extend our Aspire Program — helping more people move from chronic homelessness into long-term housing and stability. This money will support 71 additional people experiencing chronic homelessness over the next four years.

This funding comes at a critical time. Demand for homelessness support has increased by 42% over the past four years, driven by the housing crisis and rising cost-of-living pressures.

Starting 1 January, Australians will have access to free mental health support without needing a GP referral or worrying about gap fees. As a nurse, I know how important this is.

Our new free digital mental health service, Medicare Mental Health Check In, will offer digital self-help tools, and from March you will be able to access Low-Intensity CBT with trained professionals by phone or video. It's mental health care when you need it, without the wait.

Available to anyone over 16. No referral needed. No cost. Because getting help shouldn't be hard.
