Some sad TPC news…our lovely physiotherapist is heading back home to Ireland 😭💚

Amy is a much-loved member of the TPC team. She has been with us for just under a year, and in that time, she’s made such a meaningful impact across both our hospital and clinic teams.

At the hospital, Amy’s dedication and team-first attitude have been a huge support and we’re so thankful for everything she’s done to help the team. Over at Blackwood, Amy brought new life to our Women’s Health services and she helped us carry the TPC and MFD spirit into our first Blackwood Christmas Pageant!

This post is to thank Amy for all her hard work, professionalism, and kindness. She has made a lasting impression on her clients, our team and beyond in her time with us.

WELCOME JADE TO TPC! 🧡🧡

Exercise Physiology is back at TPC BLACKWOOD!!

Jade graduated from ACU with a Masters of Exercise Physiology in 2023 and worked in the Occupation Rehabilitation space. During her time working in occupational rehab, Jade gained experience with a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and saw firsthand the importance of working with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes and quality of life for clients.
Growing up, Jade was heavily involved in sports including netball, cricket, soccer, hockey and cross-country both as a hobby and high-level competitions. Her love for sport sparked an interest in how to optimise both physical and mental health to be able to best perform at high levels and how to get back to performing after an injury.
Jade believes that knowledge is power and it has a significant impact on a person’s ability to make informed choices about their health and leading a fulfilling life. She’s also passionate about exercise as medicine and its integral role in improving health and quality of life. Jade creates individualised programs that are based on the latest research, and are safe and effective while ensuring that it’s enjoyable and engaging; she believes this is key to providing the best, most holistic care for patients.
Jade’s areas of interest include;

Cardiovascular health and conditionsCancer/OncologyWomen’s HealthMusculoskeletal and sports injuriesStrength and ConditioningOutside of work, Jade enjoys any and all activities that involve getting outdoors including camping, snowboarding and hiking. She also loves to travel, both overseas and around Australia. Jade is also an avid photographer and loves to get creative by drawing and painting.
Fun Fact: Jade has been skydiving twice but will NEVER go bungee jumping – too scary!

Congratulations to TPC superstar Macey on graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Adelaide this week! Macey has been killing it on the front desk at TPC for 3 years already and is now smashing it as a qualified physiotherapist in our hospital team! If you or someone that you know has been involved in a motor vehicle accident in the last 12 weeks…this is an invitation to participate in research aimed at improving outcomes for people injured in road traffic crashes.

Professor Michele Sterling, together with Chief Investigators from The University of Queensland, The University of Sydney and Curtin University are conducting an implementation-effectiveness trial: Implementing integrated psychological and physical care in routine physiotherapy practice for musculoskeletal road traffic injury.

Members of our clinical team at The Physio Clinic Blackwood have recently completed professional development training from clinical psychologists and titled physiotherapists at The University of Queensland in order to take part in this trial.

This integrated approach is recommended in the latest guidelines and early studies have shown when this treatment plan is used, patient recovery and outcomes improve.

Last Monday, we said a bittersweet farewell to our amazing physiotherapist, Hannah!

After going on maternity leave, the opportunity to move back to the family farm came up, and of course, Hannah and her partner couldn’t say no to the chance to return to their roots – who wouldn’t?!

Hannah has been an integral part of the TPC team for 4 years, helping to shape our Women’s Health service at our Blackwood clinic and playing a key role in developing our physio exercise classes (PEC) into what they are today 🤸

Thank you, Hannah, for your unwavering support, your dedication to both the TPC team and the Blackwood community, and for always being such a friendly and welcoming face. You’ve left a lasting impact, and we’ll miss you dearly 🧡🫶
