This time of the year can be magical, exciting & fun.. it can also be overwhelming, draining & extremely taxing emotionally.. especially after the horrific events that unfolded this week 💔.

During busy & stressful times movement is medicine. Nourishing yourself is medicine & so is taking active steps to soothe your nervous system and calm your mind.

Because let’s face it, when we are in a calmer, more level headed space emotionally, we are better able to handle what life throws at us & this has a ripple effect on those around us & the world as a whole!

Some of our favourite ways to induce calm is through big belly breaths, yoga, walking, meditation & sound healing.

This sound bath experience facilitated by .your.soul_soundhealing was next level relaxing & enjoyed by all that attended. It provided a calming, safe space to let go of the day, decompress & press pause.

One of the reasons we are so passionate about movement is because it can be incredibly supportive for our mental health!

For men’s mental health awareness month we undertook a variety of measures to raise funds for & to raise awareness for men’s mental health.

This was one way we encouraged our male members to keep showing up to class!

During busy times it can be hard to find the time to look after yourself.

This can also be when our healthy habits go out the door & we make poor eating decisions.

I’m not saying you can’t treat yourself, in fact that is absolutely part of living a healthy life.

Instead I am saying, don’t let stress or feeling time poor hold you back from your health goals.

This delicious salad takes less than 5 minutes to make, is easy to put together, cheap and an absolute god send for busy days when you are tempted to order takeaway.

It’s also supportive for your health as it contains a balance of protein, carbohydrates & healthy fats. It is rich in fibre, antioxidants and a variety of vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients:
- organic black beans (canned) 1/3 of a can
- organic canned corn (1/4 of a can)
- cherry tomatoes handful chopped
- 1/4 of an avocado
- lettuce shredded
- capsicum, one cheek diced
- 2 small cooked beetroots chopped (I bought cryovac from )
- couple of pitted olives optional
- fetta crumbed (optional)
- EVOO
-balsamic vinegar
-fresh herbs of choice, I recommend parsley and coriander

Method:
- chop up veggies
- place everything into a bowl
- dress the salad with EVOO, S&P and balsamic, taste and adjust
- enjoy

This serves enough for 1 plus you will have leftover ingredients for another meal.

Hi! I’m Paula. Welcome to Soul Movement Studio! The vision was born around 2 years ago. It was out of a desire to combine fitness with mindfulness. Fitness has always been a big part of my life. Having been a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor for the past 10 years, I have had the absolute privilege of helping my clients not only improve their fitness but also increase their energy, confidence and motivation in other areas of their life. Because that’s the thing about exercise, the lessons you learn about yourself when you are challenged, when you are pushed out of your comfort zone, when you want to stop but tell yourself “just one more rep”, they don’t stop at the gym. The workout becomes a metaphor for life: if you can get through your workout then you can get through anything. I truly believe exercise if a gift. A gift we can give to ourselves to show us how strong, capable and resilient we truly are.

Mindfulness. Because much of the pain and suffering we experience daily arises from our thoughts, not the actual reality of what is happening. It took me going through a very challenging time about 4 years ago to come to this realisation. After reading many books and eventually having enough courage to look within through mediation I started to see the impermanence of my thoughts and emotions. Just like the waves in the ocean or the clouds in the sky, all emotions, all thoughts, good and bad... pass by. I still have my ups and my downs but underneath the turbulence, I know there is a constant: the peace I was longing for.

Most of us know we need to exercise more for our health but we also know that our minds need down time. Whether consciously or unconsciously, I believe that we are desperately seeking an opportunity to disconnect from technology, to step away from the hustle and bustle, to break away from the constant demands that draw our attention everywhere but the one place that will bring us true peace and fulfilment... within.

So my purpose for Soul Movement Studio is to provide a space for you to connect with yourself and those around you. To be fully present when you workout… in body, mind and spirit. To break out of comfort zones and then take the opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the wonderful gift you have just given yourself. With this intention in mind and heart, I have developed a series of programs including SoulStrength, SoulPower, SoulFusion and SoulYoga, all designed to energise the Body, empower the Mind and uplift the Soul.
