February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. My mum passed away from metastatic ovarian cancer in 2023, and I had a prophylactic oophorectomy (preventative surgery to remove ovaries) in 2024. Please talk to your doctor if you have a close family history of ovarian cancer. With Drs Anna Nicholson, Tanaka Dunne, Alexandra Carey and Madeline Honner as we hosted: "These Women Mean Business", a mentoring event for senior registrars and new Fellows in gynaecology and surgery. We shared tips on how to navigate the transition from hospital medicine to private practice... while trying to maintain a work-life balance. Most importantly, we forged new connections and friendships to sustain us in the work that we love doing. Thank you to all who attended.
