Getting in early to wish you a happy and peaceful new year! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’šπŸ™πŸΌ

When I start to reflect on the new year ahead the thoughts that come to mind are holding on and letting go.

What do you want to hold on to in your life that is truly important and supportive and what is it time to let go of?

It is really empowering to take a moment to pause and know that you have some choice over your life (and of course many times when you don’t!).

One gift yoga can provide you is the opportunity to pause and appreciate the little things and remind you over and over again to be mindful and grateful.

I guess that is why I continue to offer and practice these nourishing slow, mindful yoga practices.

Registration for Term 1 has just opened up and it would be a pleasure to share the time and space with you each week in the coming year.

Today we ventured down the beach as a family and the kids enjoyed playing in the water (that’s Adela behind me on her surfboard πŸ„) while I got to practice some yoga πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ.

It’s days like this where I feel grateful, present and a sense of well-being.

A large part of that is thanks to yoga. It keeps my body strong and supple and most importantly gives me an anchor βš“οΈ to return to mentally.

Life is busy and ever changing but my breath and the practice are there for me when I need to come home to myself.

Over the break I have been struggling with some issues with one of my feet - my right big toe to be exact (in case you were wondering ;)).

This has made me reflect a lot on my relationship with my body as it ages and changes. What it has meant is that I have had to change my plans for lots of dance practice and instead I have been seeing a physio to get therapy and advice about how to manage this new issue.

It is inevitable as we age that our bodies will change. As the physio said to me just this morning "keep doing your walking and yoga until the pain eases as our bodies are made to move (yay) but they are also made to degenerate (no so yay) just take a break from dancing while you can".

So I have decided to use this break to rest and heal my toe and focus on what I CAN do not what I CANNOT do. There is still alot I can do I just have to adjust my expectations.

Where does yoga come into all this?" you may be thinking. Well it plays a big part for me. Firstly it allows me to feel strong, subtle and mobile in all areas of my body. Because I practice Slow, Mindful Yoga I can make very wise decisions about how to adapt my practice to care for my current issue. Most importantly though, the practice helps me to cultivate peace with my body and watch the messages I give to myself and also may feel from outside sources.

If you'd also like to experience a practice each week where you can improve how you feel and function physically as well as how you feel about this amazing body of yours then please come and join us in Term 2 commencing next week.

Classes are held Monday and Thursday evenings 7:15-8:15pm in Seacliff. There are only 2 places left in the Monday classes and limited left in the Thursday class.

Term 2 Dates
Monday 29 April - Thursday 4 July

Would love to have you along link in comments for more details and to join πŸ™πŸ’™πŸ™.

Do you know what these are?

One of our wonderful members recently travelled to Nepal and kindly found these for us to use in classes.

They are mala bead bracelets πŸ“Ώ

We will use them occasionally in classes for breathing, mindfulness and meditation practices.

Really excited to share these practices with you πŸ™πŸΌ.
