Many people breathe very shallow. There are a few aspects that play into this. For one, we have been conditioned through society — especially women — that we shouldn’t have a belly. However, when we breathe deeply, the belly naturally expands. A smooth, full breath will always cause the belly to rise, yet because of body-image stigma, many people unconsciously restrict this natural movement, which inhibits the deep breathing process.

On top of that, we live in a society that encourages busyness and constant doing. A life that’s always “on the go” keeps the sympathetic nervous system — our fight-or-flight response — in overdrive. Chronic stress leads to shallow breathing. And beyond that, traumatic experiences also inhibit deep breathing, and this is where it gets profound.

If we are afraid to look at and acknowledge what we hold in the body — because it might feel overwhelming, or bring up shame, guilt, or painful memories — we may unconsciously avoid breathing deeply. Shallow breathing can be a way to avoid going within, and that’s totally understandable. It takes courage, calm, and patience to sit with what feels uncomfortable.

But breathing deeply is incredibly beneficial and rewarding. When we breathe into the deepest part of our belly, we connect with ourselves on a profound level. We embrace our body and our inner space. Breath is prana — life force energy — which nourishes and heals. When we breathe deeply, we send a message to our body’s consciousness that we deserve nourishment, attention, and embrace.

An easy exercise to begin: sit or lie down comfortably, place your hands on your lower belly, and breathe into your hands, filling your lungs as much as possible. Pause briefly at the top, then exhale slowly. Do this for 5–10 minutes and notice how you feel afterward.

New Golden Dragon Code Essence — RIA’NUA - Abundance and Prosperity

I have recently created a new Golden Dragon Code Essence — RIA’NUA, the frequency of Abundance and Prosperity - whicih is now available at the studio. I love making these essences, and it fills my heart with so much joy to share them as I know that their universal energies are here as a gift to nourish and heal us and to remember our true Essence.

RIA’NUA invites you to remember your inherent worth — that you are absolutely deserving of everything your heart dreams of and more. It gently asks you to release any inverted or distorted beliefs held within your body, heart, and mind about prosperity — the old patterns that whisper “I’m not enough,” or “it must be hard to be worthy.”

Through this essence, the particles of light dissolve these false imprints and open you to the truth: abundance can flow effortlessly, gracefully, and joyfully through your life. You deserve, full stop. Anything else is not based in truth.

Abundance is not only about money — it is the flow of divine nourishment through all areas of life: love, time, space, creativity, relationships, wellbeing. RIA’NUA invites you to notice where energy of lack may still linger, and allow golden waves of prosperity to fill those spaces — until every aspect of your being glows with fullness.

This code carries the nourishing and protecting presence of the Divine Mother Shakti herself — She who is Creation, the giver of life, the eternal provider. Her essence whispers, “I want you to live fully, joyfully, abundantly — because you are my own.” She wraps you in her golden embrace, reminding you that you are an extension of her infinite love and that she is always providing, always supporting, always holding you.

Allow her radiant golden light to move through you — to fill every cell, every layer of your being, every pocket of consciousness — until all that remains is the pure flow of divine abundance, peace, and prosperity on every level of your existence.

A Gentle Change for Our Tuesday Restorative Yoga Class

Our much-loved teacher Katie is stepping back from teaching the Tuesday night Restorative Yoga class for now due to family responsibilities. Thank you so much Katie for all the peace and presence you have shared over the past years. We wish you much strength and sending you love💛

From this week onward, I will be guiding the Tuesday 7:30pm Restorative Yoga class at Yogita Yoga, This class is a true invitation to slow down — using props, gentle holds, and deep rest setups to help you drop into stillness, restore your energy, and reconnect with your inner Self.

It is ideal for all levels, especially if you’re needing calm, spaciousness, or emotional reset midweek.

One of our lovely regular clients said to me the other day, that she can really feel the difference within herself and in her life since she started practicing Yoga regularly. Even her partner says that he notices the difference between her Self before having practiced and after integrating Yoga in her daily life, or even when she hasn't been to classes as regularly.

The effect Yoga has on our Being can be subtle or profoundly obvious. It can be as simple as not respnding internally to a trigger in our usual way, which on the outside may not even be visible to any other person, however, we know. We know how we feel and the shift that has occured on a sbtle level and the peace this can bring along.

While we practice posture externally on the mat, the real shift and practice occurs inside of us. Yoga reminds us that every time we step on the mat, we are not just shaping the body — we are shaping the way we meet life, one breath, one moment, one awareness at a time. And that’s the true gift of Yoga — it transforms us from the inside out, quietly weaving more peace, awareness and harmony through every layer of our being and into the way we live, move and relate to life itself.

We’re excited to welcome Mel to the Yogita Yoga teaching team!

Mel grew up in France with Portuguese roots and has always been drawn to travel and the freedom it brings. Along her journey, she discovered that true freedom goes beyond the physical—it is also found in the mind. Yoga became her gateway to mental freedom and wellbeing, teaching her to flow with life’s challenges one breath, one step, one day at a time.

For Mel, yoga is more than movement—it’s a compassionate path that embraces the body, mind, energy, and spirit. Through the wisdom of the 8 limbs of yoga, she invites us to cultivate kindness for ourselves and extend that compassion to others.

Mel will be teaching Wednesday night Yin Yoga at 7:30pm, starting tomorrow!
This is a beautiful chance to slow down, restore, and reconnect with yourself midweek.

Come along, settle into the stillness, and give yourself the gift of presence. 💜

This week I’ve been sick—a rare pause for me, and it’s reminded me of the power of stillness. Two days on the couch, away from movement, classes, and routine, has been a deep lesson in allowing, resting, and simply being.

Yoga isn’t always about flow or movement—it’s also about contentment in stillness. Sometimes life asks us to pause, to be passive, and to let things pass. In these moments, we gain insight, clarity, and understanding that prepare us for when the time is right to move forward.

Minor illnesses—like a cold or flu—can also be powerful purification. They give the body space to release what no longer serves us, like a spring clean for our physical and energetic systems. It’s a reminder that rest and surrender are an essential part of our practice—sometimes healing comes from doing less, not more.

I’m grateful to my teachers for helping out and to my clients for their understanding while I took this time to recover. Feeling renewed and happy to be back at the studio, embracing both movement and stillness.

✨ Remember: every pause has purpose. Every still moment is part of the flow. ✨
