What happens when we reframe neurodivergence not as a deficit, but as a natural variation in brain architecture? Sarah Eagle, founder of Joy Diving Australia and late-diagnosed autistic woman with ADHD, offers a refreshing perspective that celebrates brain differences rather than pathologizing them.

Sarah speaks candidly about the shame many late-diagnosed adults carry after years of being told they need to be "normal." Through her work, she helps clients develop what she calls "sensory lifestyle medicine"- practical adjustments to their environment that support nervous system regulation. For families, she introduces polyvagal theory as a framework to understand behaviours as communications of the nervous system, fostering non-blaming language around regulation and dysregulation.

Finding Your Voice: Advocacy Without Burning Out
Free Online Masterclass with Paige Carter (Inclusive Oak)
Supported by Dana Baltutis (My Therapy House)
Paige Carter is an incredible mum of not one, but two neurodivergent children. Over the years she has become a fierce and compassionate advocate, navigating the education, health and NDIS systems. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but she has learnt what it really takes to advocate well - without losing herself in the process.
I first met Paige at a networking event and was inspired not only by how she fights for her own kids, but also by how she supports other parents walking the same path. That’s why I’ve invited her to share her story and wisdom in a free masterclass for our community.
Do you feel like you’re always being “that parent” - fighting for your child’s needs, juggling appointments, meetings, therapies and school systems, and hoping someone listens?
Advocacy is essential. But when it’s constant, it can leave you drained, exhausted and doubting yourself.
This masterclass will help you reimagine advocacy in a way that protects your energy and builds your confidence.
What you’ll gain:
* How to notice the signs of advocacy burnout early
* Simple phrases that open doors (instead of creating conflict)
* Boundaries that protect your energy and peace of mind
* Grounding strategies you can use before tough conversations
Paige will share her lived experience as a parent and founder of Inclusive Oak. I’ll add the therapeutic lens - showing why your own calm, regulated voice is one of the greatest gifts you can give your child.
We’ll finish with a Q&A so you can leave with answers, tools and hope.

Finding Your Voice: Advocacy Without Burning Out

with Paige Carter (Inclusive Oak) & supported by Dana Baltutis (My Therapy House)

Do you feel like you’re always being that parent - fighting for your child’s needs, navigating appointments, meetings, therapies, school systems, and hoping someone is listening? Advocacy is essential, but when it’s constant, it can steal your energy, your confidence, and even your peace of mind.

Imagine instead… speaking with clarity, staying grounded in difficult conversations, protecting your energy - while still ensuring your child is understood and supported.

In this free 60-minute masterclass, Paige Carter, mother, advocate, founder of Inclusive Oak, will share her lived journey of finding her voice without burning out. She will lift the curtain on what advocacy really takes, show you how to advocate well, and help you make small shifts that have big impact.

What you’ll gain:

How to spot when advocacy is draining you before you hit burnout

Simple, effective phrases and communication approaches that open doors (not create conflict)

Clear boundaries you can set so your energy isn’t depleted

Grounding and regulation strategies to steady yourself before a hard meeting

A small but powerful reflection: choose one advocacy action to take in the next month

While Paige leads the teaching from her heart and experience, Dana Baltutis (speech pathologist, parent coach, director of My Therapy House) will bring the therapeutic lens - explaining why your own regulated voice matters for your child’s emotional wellbeing.

We’ll end with a Q&A so you can bring your real, pressing questions and walk away with something you can use.

What happens when the professional becomes the parent? Despite 14 years working in the disability sector, Paige Carter found herself completely lost when her son was diagnosed with autism at age two and a half. That moment sparked a powerful realization: if someone with her experience felt overwhelmed, how do families with no prior exposure to disability navigate this journey?

Paige shares her family's remarkable story of discovery- how her son's diagnosis eventually led to recognizing autism and ADHD in her husband, daughter, and finally herself. With refreshing honesty, she describes this journey not as a burden but as "magic" that transformed her understanding of neurodiversity.

"Neurodivergent people, the way their brains operate, is just incredible," Paige explains, bringing a perspective that celebrates different ways of thinking rather than pathologizing them. As founder of Inclusive Oak, she's created the support system she desperately needed as a new autism parent- a blend of education, community, and connections she calls "the recipe for success."

On this week's The Empowered Parent Podcast I speak with Paige about her journey and how she supports parents on theirs. Listen on your favourite podcast app or via this link. Please share with others!

🌟 New Empowered Parent Episode Alert! 🌟

What if we treated neurodivergence as a natural and essential part of human diversity?

This week on The Empowered Parent, I’m joined by Joanne Hatchard-founder of Better Being Me and creator of the Be Me Completely course. Joanne shares her powerful journey from a dyslexia diagnosis at 16 to discovering her autistic identity through her son. With humour, honesty, and a cosmic metaphor that will stick with you, she reveals how self-acceptance and authentic living free us from exhausting masks.

Parents will especially love her insights on why their own acceptance is the key to their child’s confidence, plus practical ways to create language and accommodations without shame or secrecy.

Tune in on your favourite podcast app or listen here https://www.buzzsprout.com/2301054/episodes/17747082

I just finished listening to Divergent Minds by Jenara Nerenberg on Audible, and - wow! I feel like someone wrote a book about me!

This book honours people who think and feel differently, especially women. And it’s helped me connect some important dots in my own life.

Last year, I was diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum. Now, my doctor is flagging ADHD too. And suddenly, things that once felt confusing are starting to make sense.

My sensory sensitivities. Being deeply emotional. Always creating. Constantly on the go. Finding relationships difficult in the past. Even the pain in my body, which I now understand has come from suppressed emotions, PTSD, years of vigilance, and masking who I really am.

And yet, all of these qualities have shaped who I am today.

A sensitive therapist.
A compassionate and fair employer.
A loving wife.
A deeply caring friend.

I go deep into everything I do - connection, work, relationships. I avoid small talk because I care about what really matters. I see people. I feel life. I live with intensity and intention.

And I’m proud of who I have become.

I love the people in my life.
I love My Therapy House.
I love my Craig.
And I love my life.

If any of this resonates with you, Divergent Minds might just offer something powerful and personal. It’s definitely worth a listen.
