We recently attended a National Trust event that emphasized the crucial role of butterflies and bees in preserving ecological balance. Through this experience, we acquired valuable knowledge about the captivating world of pollinators and received native seeds to cultivate in our gardens, thereby empowering our participants to establish a bee- and butterfly-friendly environment of their own.

Our weekend activities lately have turned to bird watching and learning photography basics. We have been spending time outdoors, exploring new destinations, and recording observations of all the species we encounter.

This combination increases physical exercise, helps skill development and allows for participants to express their personal interest.

This weeks photography session we focused on Fungi around Mount Barker. The wetlands, with their damp and shaded environments, proved to be the perfect habitat for a variety of fascinating fungi.

Photography allows individuals to express their creativity, offering a unique medium to convey emotions, stories, and perspectives. It fosters mindfulness, encouraging photographers to be present and observant of their surroundings finding beauty in the mundane.

The session was not just about photography, but also about appreciating the hidden wonders of nature and how it all links together. We left Larratinga wetlands with a sense of fulfillment and a newfound respect for the humble fungi that call it home.

We had an amazing time at Science Alive, delving into the wonders of nature. The interactive exhibits were not only educational but involved many hands on experiences. The favourite of the day was definitely the Nature Zone, where we got up close with native wildlife, discovered which creatures inhabit the ocean and learnt about living sustainably with our invertebrates.

As the day drew to a close we couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in such a stimulating environment. Science Alive not only provided us with a wealth of knowledge but also inspired a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

In a collaborative effort this week we refreshed the sleeping quarters into a peaceful haven, granting the kangaroos a escape from the downpour outside. The kangaroos seemed to appreciate the effort, as they immediately hopped around to explore their new sleeping quarters.

As the rain poured outside, the kangaroos could be seen snuggled up comfortably in the bedding. It was very rewarding to see them happy and enjoying our assistance.

At the pet expo, we decided to go wild and broaden our horizons by visiting both our wildlife friends and the adorable dogs.

We attended the Fauna Rescue information session to discover ways to support wildlife by creating wildlife-friendly habitats and basic rescue tips. We immersed ourselves in the world of dogs, we learned about responsible pet ownership, training tips, and the importance of adoption from local shelters.

The highlights of the day included interactions with Gary the Monitor, a rufous bettong, a blue-tongue lizard, and the dog kissing booth.

We headed to the Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens for a Nature Photography Session but spent a majority of the time befriending the Water Birds. What a truly enchanting experience to watch them waddle over to us to tell us about their morning in the dam swimming.

If you are interested in joining us for Nature photography sessions or Wellbeing walks that offer a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with nature and rejuvenate the mind.

Check out this photo bombing pro! This little troublemaker stole the spotlight while we were trying to have a peaceful lunch at a Wildlife Sanctuary. Our serene picnic was transformed into a comedy sketch with the wallabies raiding our pockets for food.
We couldn't help but laugh at their boldness and persistence.

SATURDAY DAY OPTIONS
We spent the day soaking up nature's wonders and hanging out with our furry friends at the zoo!

As we wander through marveling at the exotic animals, our hearts are filled with joy and wonder, the colorful plumage of the Bird Show never cease to amaze us. We took our time strolling from one exhibit to the next, savoring each moment and creating memories that will last a lifetime. The zoo is not just a place to observe wildlife; it's a sanctuary where we can connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of the animal kingdom.

Our Day Options are filled with fun, friendly and inclusive program run by experienced disability support workers. Individual goals, developmental needs, and personal interests are all taken into consideration to ensure everyone gets the most out of each day.
