The idea that bonding happens in one perfect moment is convenient.

But it’s not true.
It keeps mothers quiet.
It keeps guilt alive.
And it shifts the burden onto mothers instead of improving support when separation is necessary.

Bonding is not a timer that runs out.
Attachment is not fragile.
And your baby did not “miss out” because medical care was needed.

What actually causes harm is the silence that follows.
The lack of reassurance.
The unspoken message that something was lost forever.

If your baby was taken away.
If birth didn’t unfold physiologically.
If the golden hour didn’t happen.
Your relationship with your baby is still whole.
And no one gets to tell you otherwise.

Some tips for breathing throughout labour!
The horse’s breath and keeping your jaw loose is a GAME changer.

This is something I see all the time with my beautiful clients — and it was exactly the same for me in labour too. As sensations ramp up, the jaw is often the first place we clench without even realising. It feels instinctive, like we’re bracing to cope… but it’s actually working against us.

A tight jaw often means a tight body. When you soften the jaw, let the lips be heavy, and breathe low and slow, the body gets the message that it’s safe to keep opening and moving through each wave.

And yes — I’m fully aware I look a bit silly doing these breaths 😂 but honestly, they are amazing in labour. And truthfully, some of these breaths are just as good for everyday life when things feel overwhelming too.

Sometimes all that’s needed is a gentle reminder:
drop the jaw, soften the face, breathe it down.

Simple. Powerful. And something you can practise long before labour begins.

Your body doesn’t shut down under stress.
It responds.

And labour is no different.

When your nervous system feels unsafe, your body tightens, speeds up, and works harder.
When it feels supported, informed and calm enough — everything changes.

This is what hypnobirthing is actually about.
Not “staying zen”. Not pretending birth is easy.

But understanding how your body works under pressure and learning how to support it when it matters most.

If you want to understand why your body reacts the way it does in labour — and what genuinely helps — I’m hosting a free online info session this Sunday.

No pressure.
No fluffy promises.

Just clear, evidence-based education so you can decide what feels right for you.

Register via the link or comment INFO and I’ll send it through.

If this made you laugh, your probably close and feeling all of this!

Waiting for labour is it's own mental game!
This is why hypnobirthing focuses on the nervous system.- not just the birth!

“My contractions were all over the place…”

If you’ve heard this (or thought this), then I hear you! This one thing that freaked me out too, before I understood it all!

Labour is influenced by more than just timing and dilation.

When the body feels overwhelmed or unsafe, stress hormones can rise — and that can affect how contractions work.

This is why it's so important (to me, its the most important) to feel safe during labour!

It’s about understanding your body and knowing what supports it.

If you want clarity before deciding whether hypnobirthing is right for you, this is a really good place to start.

Dani The Doula

Welcome to my Doula page. My name is Dani and I am a 30 year old mother to a 10 month old baby girl named Myah and a step mother to a 12 year old prenager (new hip word the kids call themselves for pre teenager) named Sascia. I suffered from infertility for 4 years due to endometriosis and adenomyosis, however we were blessed with a beautiful miracle baby girl in December 2017.

Pregnancy and the postpartum period is an amazing journey but such an exhausting and unfamiliar place. It is the most beautiful time, but partners are learning to become parents and are facing a whole new world and sometimes it can be rather daunting. This is where my job as a doula comes into play.

· I want to help women who need guidance with their fertility/infertility. As I have been through infertility myself, I feel I would be an asset and can really comprehend how difficult the rough road of infertility can be and change it for a positive experience.
