Globally, January is recognised as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
Cervical cancer is thankfully on the decline thanks to good vaccination rates, however regular screening still ensures abnormalities can be dealt with before they become bigger issues. 💉🌟
Early-stage cervical disease is typically asymptomatic, meaning you likely won’t feel any different while these changes are occurring.
🔍 Asymptomatic screening is typically every 5 years, unless told otherwise. Speak with your GP to clarify what time interval is recommended for you.
🚩 Symptomatic investigation is recommended if you experience “red flag” changes, regardless of when your last routine screen was performed. These symptoms include abnormal vaginal bleeding, including bleeding after s*x, between periods, or after menopause, persistent or unusual vaginal discharge, or a visibly abnormal appearing cervix.
⚡ The GPs consulting at Crafter Health are here to support you through either pathway, providing you with the most appropriate clinical investigations for your needs. 👩⚕️🤝
