5 Warm up tips for the Winter❄️🏃

✔️ Start with Light Cardio (5–10 mins)
Get your heart rate up and muscles warm with light jogging, cycling, or jumping jacks.

✔️Use Dynamic Stretching
Prepare your joints and muscles with movement-based stretches like leg swings, lunges, and arm circles, skip long static stretches for now.

✔️ Do Sport-Specific Drills
Mimic movements from your sport (e.g., dribbling, swinging, sprinting) to activate the right muscle groups and boost coordination.

✔️Activate Key Muscles
Use bodyweight or bands to wake up glutes, core, shoulders, etc. Try glute bridges, planks, or resistance band walks.

✔️Gradually Increase Intensity
Build up to game speed with short bursts of higher-intensity movement, don’t go from zero to 100!

Take care of your body

Anyone else been feeling the cold recently? 😬🙋

In winter, it is common for some conditions to exacerbate with the colder weather.

This is often due to reduced blood flow, muscle stiffness, and changes in barometric pressure, all of which can make joints and muscles feel more achy and tight.

Stay warm and keep moving! 🔥

As temperatures drop during the winter months, it’s important to understand how colder conditions can impact your body during physical activity.☃️🧣

In cooler weather:
• Muscles require more time to warm up, increasing the risk of strains and sprains
• Joint stiffness can be more pronounced, especially in the morning or after periods of inactivity
• Circulation may be reduced, making warm-ups and cool-downs even more essential

To reduce the risk of injury and maintain performance, we recommend:
✔️ Extended warm-up routines
✔️ Layered clothing to retain body heat
✔️ Staying consistent with movement, even if intensity changes

At Bayside Sport and Health Clinic, our allied health professionals can help you adapt your training safely through winter, keeping you mobile, strong, and injury-free. 💥🏂

Can you come in for 2 appointments in the same day?

Yes, you can!

Quite a few patients like to book Chiro appointments before or after a massage, the same with Physio.

It depends on your preference, and if you are unsure, simply speak to your practitioner for clarification.

Is your pain caused by the way you move, or is avoiding movement making your pain worse?

Most of the time, we think our pain is caused by movement, but if we are confident there is no structural damage, it can actually be the opposite!

Avoiding movement or slipping into compensatory positions can lead to poor habits and further discomfort.

It’s essential to return to your normal movement patterns 🏃‍♂️

Rebuilding confidence in movement is key to breaking this cycle 🔄

Need guidance? Let’s work together to get you back to moving well!
