Dr Tamara ha spent the weekend doing professional development - gathering the latest scientific insights and techniques to help bodies be the best they can be.

After 5 years of university training and 30 years of practice, ongoing education is still a yearly requirement of AHPRA - to keep practitioners practicing best practice. A very good thing!

This instalment focused on shoulders and pelvises and more insight into regulating the nervous system. So - happy shoulders, happy lower backs and calm people 😉

Ask Dr Tamara what she learned - interesting stuff about these wonderful bodies of ours!!

Keep your spark!
Staying active, curious and engaged with life often comes down to one simple thing - how comfortably your body moves each day.
As we age, posture changes, stiffness and tension can gradually creep in. When the body feels stiff and achy, energy and focus can sometimes feel harder to maintain.
Supporting spinal health may help you continue enjoying:
- clear thinking and daily engagement
- being comfortable
- greater ease with breathing
- confidence staying active
- greater independence
Here at the Adelaide Chiropractic Centre, chiropractic care focuses on supporting healthy movement, mobility and posture you can keep doing the things you love.
Because staying vibrant isn’t about age - it’s about keeping your spark!!

Ever notice how hard it is to think clearly when your shoulders are up near your ears and your neck feels tight?
Posture and focus are more connected than most people realise.
Long hours at laptops, phones and desks can lead to tension through the neck and upper back. When the body feels compressed or fatigued, staying mentally sharp can become harder.
Balanced posture may support:
- comfortable breathing during busy days
- sustained focus through meetings and work blocks
- reduced physical fatigue from desk work
- a calmer, more regulated nervous system
Small daily shifts can make a big difference:
- lift screens to eye level
- relax the shoulders
- take regular movement breaks
- sit back in your chair with your feet flat on the floor
Chiropractic care can also support spinal mobility and posture awareness - helping your body move and function the way it was designed to.
Because when your frame is working well, your brain often follows.
Less tension - more clarity!!

Any students in your world?
Good posture does more than just help your body feel comfortable - it can influence how alert, focused and energised we feel throughout the day. When we sit and stand with balanced alignment, breathing can feel easier, muscles don’t need to work as hard to support us, and the body is often better positioned for sustained attention and productivity.
Some potential benefits of maintaining healthy posture include:
- improved concentration
- supporting memory and learning
- reduced physical fatigue
- helping the body stay calm and regulated
- supporting long term spinal health
At the Adelaide Chiropractic Centre we focus on supporting healthy spinal movement because strong spines help curious minds thrive!

About Us

Adelaide Chiropractic Centre, in its current form, is an amalgamation of two of the first four chiropractic practices established in Adelaide – Adelaide Chiropractic Clinic (Dr Horton) and Breen Chiropractic (Dr Breen). Founded in 1969, Adelaide Chiropractic Centre has withstood the test of time, maintaining its local presence and servicing the Adelaide region from its CBD base.

Our chiropractor, Dr Tamara Swaffer, has been practicing for over 24 years. She has a passion for chiropractic and a commitment to providing the highest quality of care. Her goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of each person who walks through our practice doors, aiming to educate and empower each patient to be an active participant in their health journey.

Operating out of the Adelaide CBD creates opportunities to work with a range of people from all walks of life; she also travels to Kadina to help keep the local farming community in good condition through the intensive periods around seeding and harvest.

Dr Swaffer is also a busy mum. When not sharing her energy and expertise with patients she is contributing to her local community and is involved in her children’s commitments – there is a lot of cricket and soccer. Dr Swaffer has a full life and is blessed to love what she does.
