Hey everyone,

Hope your day has been a good one 😊

So, I thought I should tell everyone a bit about myself so you can get to know me a little.

My name is Jordan and I’m a single parent to my beautiful son Hunter. Hunter is 14 and turns 15 this Friday, and I couldn’t be prouder of him and the young man he is becoming. I live with Hunter and my dog Cooper who is a Kelpie.

In my spare time I love to go the footy and watch Port Adelaide play- Go The Power. I also love to spend time with Hunter, my dog Cooper, my friends, going to the beach and doing water activities, gym, camping, travelling and live music. Concerts and travelling with my son Hunter are a huge passion of mine. In my travels I’d have to say the best thing I have done was snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef up in Cairns, it was spectacular. When it comes to music my favourite band is Matchbox Twenty. I love all sorts of music though especially some off the old stuff like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash, Elvis and Roy Orbison.

The start of my career began in 2014 when I studied my Certificate 3 in Disability at The South Australian Learning Centre at Minda.

My friend Jessie Anne was studying a dual Certificate of Disability and Aged Care and said how good I would be at it, so I enrolled myself and gave it a try and found to love it. I have always grown up knowing about Minda and people with disabilities as my dad has worked at Minda for 25years now and my childhood friend Samantha’s dad also worked there for around 36years.

That’s how I became to be a disability support worker and I am fortunate enough to still be doing it till this day, doing what I love and helping the clients live their best lives.

The thing I love most about my job is seeing the clients happy. I’m there for the clients and what’s best for them. I do my best to help the clients I support and work with in every situation to reach their needs, goals and potential. To me I believe being a good carer is caring from the heart and treating your clients like you would someone in your own family and how you would like them to be cared for.

Take Care
Jordan

Live Your Best Life Now!!!
Hi all, my name is Jordan Ross and for over the past 9years I have been a disability support worker. I’m very passionate about my job and love the work I do for my clients and to be able to enable them to have the best lives possible and maintain and learn new skills.
I have mainly worked at Minda in this time and at SAGE which is an entity of Minda where the clients go to work which I was part of the Training and Development and Support Team. I have also worked with another small run company Free As A Bird and help my friend out with her Mentoring business when needed.
What I love about my job is getting to interact with my clients and assisting them to be able to do the things they love and also keeping up their independence so their able to do more and live their lives to the fullest.

My qualifications and clearances are listed below
• Certificate 3 in Disability
• Level 2 in Work Health and Safety
• Delegate Training- Union Delegate
• Certificate 2 & 3 in Kitchen Operations
• First Aid and CPR
• Police Clearance
• DSCI Clearance
• Medication Accredited
• Manual Handling

In my time at Minda I have learned so much and gained a lot of knowledge from being in various roles.
I have planned and accompanied a house of clients on a cruise ship overseas holiday Cruise N Grove in 2017, which I was lucky enough to organise and they all still talk about it to this day. The planning in this involved booking the cruise ship, flights, passports, insurances, activities, the finances and money exchange and making sure all basis were covered.
Other events I have organised included stage shows at The Festival Theatre and The Entertainment Centre.
I’m always up to try new adventures and skills with the clients and help them reach their potential and do what makes them happy.

If I sound like someone you know would love help in supporting, please reach out and have a chat. Hope to hear from you soon🙂
