Its not an easy time Dec 10 2025 heralds the Social Media Ban, and working with other parents of our child may not be easy. Remember we are village and it takes a village to carry a child. Here are some tips in communicating with the others who parent your child, not only around the social media ban, but in other poingnant moments.
The social media ban/delay certainly seems to be hitting the social media spaces! I note that the intent is about protecting young people and families from the affects of social media in terms of developmental stressors, relationships but particularly has been in response to abuse, bullying, and the exposure of young people to adult content, experience and the magnification and access of bullying behavious both intentional and unintentional. Despite the arguents for or against the ban we have to deal with the transition. Any change brings about loss and grief.
At ANDFT we are here to help. There is going to be all kinds of pressures on families for work arounds, and those presures may be debilitating. But lets take a moment to think of the young people who may be hurting and assisting them in the journey of loss. Here is something to ponder on, from Brett Williams. He is encouraging us to "normalise" the decision to seek expert help in relationships, just like we already do when a car breaks down, etc.

As we enter a further week of COVID-19-inspired isolation, Brett Williams has been interviewed by Steve Davis from Talked About Marketing on two key points:
1. What extra challenges are people likely to face, from a family therapy perspective, as we are all forced to live in much closer quarters with our family members than ever before?
2. What are the challenges and benefits of seeking therapy online during this time?
