This week, we had the privilege of attending the unveiling of the newly upgraded Laurel Hospice.

Thanks to a $2 million Federal Government grant, proudly facilitated by The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Palliative Care, the hospice has undergone transformative improvements. These include soundproofed patient rooms, dedicated wellness spaces, and a warm, welcoming reception area for patients and their families.

It was truly inspiring to hear how these enhancements are already creating a more peaceful, supportive environment and making a profound difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones. 💛

In the northern suburbs of Adelaide, something special is happening… The Playford Women’s Shed is a welcoming space where women from all walks of life come together to connect, create and support one another 💖🧵

From mosaics and tech classes to financial know-how, this community shed is empowering women with practical skills and lasting friendships — all sparked by founder Raelene’s vision and generosity 🙌

One insightful class, delivered through the state’s Palliative Care Research Collaboration (PCRC), gently opens up conversation around wills, palliative care and planning for the future — helping women feel more informed and confident about topics often pushed aside.

Our Vision, Mission & Values

The Laurel Palliative Care Foundation is a charity of The Hospital Research Foundation Group that raises money to support end-of-life services that are not traditionally funded by the South Australian Government. These funds assist Southern Adelaide Palliative Services and Laurel Hospice meet the needs of 1200 people annually with life-limiting illnesses and their families by providing funds for support services, such as complementary care, art and pet therapy programs as well as bereavement services and medical research. Our goal is to provide an added level of comfort and support to palliative patients and their families throughout end-of-life care.

Vision Statement The Laurel Palliative Care Foundation enables people receiving end-of-life care in Southern Adelaide to access care and services above and beyond those traditionally funded by government.

Mission Statement The Foundation provides funds for essential services to patients at end-of-life, who use the services of Southern Adelaide Palliative Service (SAPS), either in Laurel Hospice itself or within the community. In addition, the Foundation provides funds to support the families of these patients through a range of services including the complementary care and art therapy programs.

We strive to deliver the above with our core values of integrity, respect, engagement and accountability. We are here for you ❤️
