Spring has officially sprung! 🌺

Earlier this week, our Croydon Park residents enjoyed a lovely outing to Virginia Home & Garden - Virginia Nursery. They spent the morning sipping coffee, sharing cake, and strolling through beautiful gardens. There were plenty of smiles — and a few flowers taken home too! We’re looking forward to the next visit.

It’s September and the Royal Adelaide Show is in full swing. This week our St Peters residents enjoyed their own show experience, complete with fun games, morning tea with baked treats, and of course raffle prizes.

Last week, our Plateia Social Respite Program was blessed to welcome Fr. John Saredakis, who led the Blessing of the Waters for the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos. Father's words lifted the hearts of clients and staff.

The day was made even more special as everyone came together to celebrate the 95th birthday of our cherished client, Andoni. A festive and hearty lunch was shared by all, and the day was filled with warmth, joy and community spirit.

What's not to love about a trip to Bunnings? Our Aegean Village residents recently visited Noarlunga Bunnings for a morning of pot decorating.

Not only did they all love the experience, they also came home with their own decorated pot and plant for their room.

As part of our School Community Visits, the children at East Adelaide Primary visited our St Peters home five times during June.

Our residents and the children got to know each other by reading books, sharing stories and of course doing some fun activities together.

This month the children help plant vegetables and took part in a nature hunt. Residents also talked about the special games they liked to play as children and the activities they did like milking cows and making slingshots!

These visits bring such joy and and the smiles say it all!

Research shows that intergenerational programs that bring children into aged care homes benefit both residents and children.

Children from Confident Kids Child Care recently visited our Croydon Park home. The children were excited to meet and play with our residents and enjoyed showing them their artwork and playing balloon games together.

Our residents love to prepare food and what better way than from ‘garden to plate’!

Here are our Croydon Park residents collecting and cooking Greek Vlita, also known as Horta (leafy greens). Vlita is packed with flavour and nutrients, making it a delicious and healthy addition to any meal. Since Vlita has a slightly bitter taste, it pairs really well with lemony and olive oil-based dressings.

If you're looking to complement its flavour, pairing it with grilled meats or fish is a great option, as well as other Mediterranean flavours like olives, garlic, and feta. Enjoy!
