WE ARE BACK ONLINE! Thank you for being patient ❤️
(Long post ahead. Sorry but we feel it is important)
Our main drive when we decided to start Ember Support Services was from watching our beautiful son, Lincoln live with a disability and all the challenges that came with it.
We had seen the bad and great sides of what support work can do to/for a person and their informal supports. We wanted to create a business that is focused on providing clients and their families with tailored individual support to help them live their best life possible.
We were able to build an amazing team of support workers through other companies that made a life-changing impact on not only Lincoln’s life but also ours as a family.
We witnessed how these people turned from workers to family, driven by a passion to help our son achieve what he was destined to, and far beyond. We wanted to create this for others.
We believed that we had unique skills from caring for a child with high medical and special needs, as well as navigating all the systems required to sustain someone with these needs.
The difference we wanted to make was to not only support our clients but their whole support system. We aimed to help bring happiness, growth, and respect through our support.
For those that don’t know, our sweet Lincoln passed away in October last year at the age of 10 years old. He fought so hard against Dravet Syndrome throughout his entire life, and he keep that fight going until the very end.
During the weeklong hospital stay leading up to his passing, Lincoln’s ‘support workers’, never left his or our family’s side.
It is shocking and hard for us as a family. It is something we hope no one else must go through or deal with. We still struggle immensely with our huge loss and will forever.
But one of the things that stuck with us is the love and care that the individual support workers (they know who they are) gave us and still do.
Now months on, our business that we built because of our inspiring son is still going. We are slowly building it, while navigating such a hard time in our lives. We have amazing staff that have stuck with us thick and thin.
We have not been able to keep up with social media on top of everything else. However, we do not want to ever stop doing what Lincoln taught us, and we want to support people to live the life they deserve. As well as spread awareness for the people that need it.
We built Ember Support Services because of Lincoln, and we want to make sure his impact continues on.
We were never gone, we just had to sit on the sidelines for a bit for our family’s sake, but as Lincoln would have wanted, we will be like the ants and keep marching on.
We have more passion now than we ever did to help people and change lives, like so many did for us. We believe now more than ever this isn't a business, this is our calling and our reason to be here.
We have a lot in store, we love working with people, we love connecting with people, but most of all we love making a difference in people's lives.
Love Sam & Jay
