Always an exciting milestone when the steelwork is up on a new project. This one at Virginia Primary School is particularly dramatic, as you can see the huge distances that the ARAMAX roofing profile will span and then cantilever even further on its end spans. Looking forward to seeing the roof sheeting going on in early January when we get back!

PROJECT THROWBACK

Brighton Secondary School: Completed in 2021, Tarni Warra is a dedicated Middle School building supporting the school’s vision for 21st century learning environments tailored to Year 7 and 8 students. The design delivers flexible and dynamic spaces aligned with the school’s values of curiosity, courage, and citizenship.

Opportunities for paired classes and team-teaching flow seamlessly between classrooms and into the shared learning commons. Contemporary pedagogical spaces such as ‘think tanks’, ‘gallery’, and ‘forum’ areas provide alternative learning settings, expanding the possibilities beyond the traditional classroom and creating a campus that inspires exploration and collaboration.

PROJECT THROWBACK

Springbank Secondary College: Completed in 2024, this project reflects the school’s role as a unique provider of alternative learning pathways. Recognised with a Commendation in Educational Architecture at the 2024 AIA SA Chapter Awards, the design was shaped by the school’s aspirations, its diverse student cohort, and the importance of community in future learning environments.

In collaboration with the school, the Department for Education, and key stakeholders, we reimagined the existing campus; transforming the footprint to deliver large, flexible spaces tailored to the STEAM educational philosophy. Both internal refurbishments and external undercover learning environments now provide Springbank students with purpose-built spaces that support innovation, creativity, and connection.

Whyalla Secondary College
Completed in 2021 in collaboration with Cox Architecture this project responded to the merger of three schools within the economically important regional town of Whyalla. We championed an extensive range of new specialist facilities within innovative indoor and outdoor learning environments to deliver a new contemporary education model. Outdoor spaces were designed with curriculum focus to maximise authentic student engagement while also meeting connection to country for indigenous students.

Introducing Swallowcliffe P-6.

Completed in 2019, the design reflects the school’s vision to be both forward-looking and a drawcard for education within the local community. Inspired by the simplicity of play, the architectural form draws on the concept of folding paper or origami to create a distinctive and engaging identity for the school.
