Meet Kylie Cakau – Our Course Manager Extraordinaire! ✨

Kylie is the powerhouse behind ANMEC’s health care pathway programs – from aged care and disability to allied health assistance.

With over 30 years of experience in aged care (starting as a 15-year-old school student!), Kylie knows what it takes to deliver exceptional care and train the next generation of professionals. 🩺💙

Her role? Designing innovative VET for Schools programs, managing traineeships, and ensuring students get hands-on experience that sets them up for success.

Kylie’s passion shines through everything she does – improving outcomes for older people and empowering carers with the latest skills and knowledge.

Congratulations to our 2025 VET in School students!

This year, we’re proud to celebrate an incredible achievement across our programs:

🏫 43 schools represented
📚 8 classes completing Certificate III in Individual Support
🩺 3 classes completing Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance

Students were supported on placement across 48 residential aged care facilities and 24 health care organisations – a huge thank you to our industry partners for backing the next generation of health care workers 💜

183 students are now ready to enter the healthcare workforce, with an outstanding 98% completion rate achieved by the ANMEC team!

Well done to Team ANMEC and congratulations to all our graduating students – your future starts now! 👏

This year’s theme is 'Explore All The Options'. The theme is to inspire people to look at ALL the options when deciding what they choose to study and their career.

We are proud to announce we will be delivering a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance to students in Port Augusta and surrounding regions!

Alongside Premier Peter Malinauskas, Blair Boyer MP and Nat Cook MP ANMEC educators attended today’s opening at the Port Augusta Tech College.

These students represent the next generation of allied health professionals and nurses, helping to address critical workforce shortages across regional South Australia 🩺🤍

We are proud to partner with Kalyra and Action Learning Institute to pilot a workplace-based training model for Certificate III in Individual Support.

This week, the first Help at Home HSW cohort began their journey with Skills SA-funded training, combining real workplace experience with supported learning.

The program features:

✔️ On the job evidence collection
✔️ Person-centred projects
✔️ Set meetings
✔️ Workplace observations & mentoring

We’re excited to support learners in delivering high-quality, person-centred care while earning a nationally recognised qualification.

This NAIDOC week, we honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledge the ongoing contributions they make across every part of our community, including health and aged care.

At ANMEC, we’re proud to support the next generation of First Nations nurses and midwives who bring cultural knowledge, strength and compassion to their work.

Stephanie, an ANMEC student and proud Aboriginal woman, is studying to become a nurse so she can give back to her community and help close the health gap.

"I want to be a voice for my people and make sure our care is culturally safe and respectful."

Her story is one of many — and this week, we reflect, respect and celebrate them all.
