Since February History Helper have digitised over 700 of our collection of church registers, with nearly 1000 now digitised in total (this is about half of the collection). This project was generously funded by a National Library of Australia Community Heritage Grant.

The project has been a great success, not only for making the registers more accessible, but allowing us to reassess our holdings, including finding some registers that had been lost in the system due to misnaming, and standardising the naming system across the entire register collection.

We are very grateful for the service that History Helper has provided as digitising is a quite dangerous process, as can be seen by the hand injury in the photo below!!🤣🤣

Have you ever wondered what people were paid or what things cost in 19th century South Australia? Directories and almanacs have a huge amount of this information in them, and many are online for free at the State Library of South Australia https://guides.slsa.sa.gov.au/c.php?g=410329&p=6950224

The image is from Boothby's 1864 Almanac and shows wages for the Adelaide Labour Market, while the next page on shows Adelaide retail prices.
