Happy Father's Day to all the incredible dads and father figures in our ECH community! 💙

Today, we celebrate the men who have shaped lives through their love, wisdom, and endless dad jokes. From our residents who have decades of fatherhood stories to share, to our team members balancing work and family, to the grandfathers who light up when their grandchildren visit.

Whether you're a father who taught life lessons through weekend projects, a stepdad who chose to love unconditionally, a grandfather sharing stories and lollies, or a mentor who became a father figure to someone who needed it - your impact matters.

To the dads in our villages sharing their life experiences with younger generations, and to the sons celebrating their fathers today - we see the beautiful bonds that make families strong.

This month, we join communities across Australia in raising awareness about dementia and supporting the hundreds of thousands of people living with this condition, along with their families and carers.

Understanding Dementia: Dementia affects memory, thinking, and social abilities severely enough to interfere with daily life. It's not a single disease, but rather a term that describes a group of symptoms. While it primarily affects older adults, it's important to remember that dementia is not a normal part of ageing.

At ECH, we're committed to:
• Providing person-centred care that honours each individual's dignity and life story
• Creating dementia-friendly environments in our villages and care services
• Supporting families and carers with resources and understanding
• Training our staff to deliver compassionate, specialised care
• Advocating for better understanding and support in our communities

Love Story Alert: 63 Years Strong! 💗What started as a simple request turned into the most beautiful celebration of love at Cumberland Park Community Centre.

When Rose-Anne, a wedding celebrant student, asked if she could practice a mock wedding ceremony with us, we thought - why not make it special? We approached residents Christine and John Thorne, married for 63 incredible years, and magic happened!

John surprised everyone (especially Christine!) by saying YES to renewing their vows - something she'd always dreamed of doing!

What followed was pure community magic:
• A $10 Salvos find became Christine's perfect cream suit
• Handpicked native flowers & a beautiful bridal bouquet
• Wedding march played on our grand piano
• A stunning vanilla sponge wedding cake with lemon curd
• High tea prepared with love by our amazing volunteers
• A heartfelt rendition of "You're Still the One"

The personal vows Christine and John shared brought tears to everyone's eyes and reminded us all what true love looks like after more than six decades together.

This is what community is all about - coming together to create something beautiful and meaningful. From volunteers to staff to lifelong friends, everyone played a part in making this day unforgettable for our special couple! 💗

A huge thank you to Sharon Beech for pulling all of this together! Here's to Christine & John - proving that love stories never get old! 🥂

We were thrilled to offer a truly special experience to a small group of ECH clients as part of our partnership with SANFL. They received an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic Adelaide Oval.

The group was granted access to restricted areas, delving into the venue's rich history. They explored the legendary scoreboard, stood where world-renowned bands have performed, and uncovered some of the many secrets of this revered venue.

A huge shout-out to our ECH SANFL Walking Footy players who stole the show at Prospect Oval earlier this month!

During the half-time break of the North vs Norwood game, over 20 of our talented players participated in a demonstration game.

It was a perfect opportunity to shine a light on the Walking Footy community and showcase what the Walking Footy program is all about!
