🩹 ā€œBut aren’t casts just for broken bones?ā€
Not quite!

At Children’s Physio SA, we use serial casting as a gentle and effective treatment to help children with:
šŸ‘‰ Toe walking
šŸ‘‰ Muscle tightness
šŸ‘‰ Neurological conditions (like cerebral palsy)
šŸ‘‰ Foot and leg alignment (like clubfoot)

Casting isn’t painful and doesn’t mean something is broken, it’s simply one of the many tools we use to help little bodies move better, grow stronger, and feel more comfortable.

We make the process fun, colourful and kid-friendly — think weekly visits, singing toys and Ipad entertainment. šŸ’Ŗ

Got questions about casting? Curious if it’s right for your child? Send us a message or give us a call, we’re always here to help.

ā€œWhen should my baby be… Rolling, Sitting or Walking?ā€
All babies develop at their own pace, but knowing the typical timeframes can help spot when they might need extra support.

In this post, we break down the key developmental milestones and when it might be time to check in with a physio.

🌿 NAIDOC Week 2025
This week, we join communities across the country in celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

At Children’s Physio SA, we proudly acknowledge the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all First Nations families we work with.

šŸ’¬ NAIDOC Week is also a time for listening, learning and reflecting. As a paediatric clinic, we are committed to creating a culturally safe, inclusive and welcoming space for all children and families.

From celebrating children’s unique identities to recognising the power of connection to culture in health and development, we honour the strength and stories of First Nations peoples every week of the year.

This month we say goodbye to one of our absolute favourites – Senior Physio Maggie Gill – who is heading off to begin a new chapter in Geelong.

Maggie has been a valued part of the Children’s Physio SA family for over 10 years. She’s played a key role in coordinating our student programs and has been a trusted consultant for many of our developmental patients and their families.

Her expertise, warmth, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the children she’s worked with and the team around her. Our families and patients absolutely love her – and so do we.

Maggie, you’ll be incredibly missed. We wish you all the very best as you begin this exciting new professional adventure!

Hydrotherapy offers a low-impact, fun and supportive environment where little ones can build strength, improve balance, and move more freely — all while splashing around with our experienced physios and assistants!

What exactly is a paediatric physio? And how are we different from regular physios? šŸ’”

It’s a question we get all the time - so we’re kicking off our new FAQ series to help parents better understand what we do, how we help, and when to seek support.

A paediatric physiotherapist is trained specifically to work with babies, children and teens - supporting their movement, development, and physical wellbeing in a way that’s fun, age-appropriate and evidence-based.

🧠 Children’s bodies aren’t just mini adult bodies. We have extra knowledge in treating kids because they grow, move and heal differently to adults - and that means their care should look different too.

Whether it’s delayed milestones, walking differences, neurological conditions, or support after surgery - paediatric physios are here to help little people move better, feel stronger and grow with confidence.

šŸ’¬ Got a question about physio for your child? Drop it in the comments or send us a DM — we’d love to include it in a future FAQ!

Did you know?
Physio doesn’t always have to happen in a clinic.

At Children’s Physio SA, we know that every family’s schedule is different - and that some children feel more comfortable in familiar environments. That’s why we offer visits to homes, schools, kindies and childcare centres across Adelaide.

✨ Same quality of care. More flexibility.
Let us come to you - so your child can thrive where they feel most at ease.

šŸ’œ June is International Hip Dysplasia Awareness Month
Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) affects how the hip joint forms in babies and young children - and early detection makes all the difference.

Signs can be subtle, and many babies don’t show obvious symptoms - that’s why screening, support, and follow-up are so important.

At Children’s Physio SA, we help families navigate DDH with bracing support, developmental advice, and physio to keep little hips moving strong.

13/06/2025

The team at Children's Physio SA is appalled by the National Disability Insurance Scheme’s (NDIS) decision to lower price limits for physiotherapy supports, which ignores five years of price freezes and ongoing pressures of rising operational costs.
This decision will directly affect the families that we work with every day.
It will:
- reduce access to the care they need
- decrease their choice and control over their care
- increase pressure on the public hospital system
- have severe impacts on people living in rural and remote areas
For our families - this will clearly decrease their quality of life. This is devastating for people living with a disability.
The NDIA has dropped the ball.

šŸ‘£āœØ Today is World Clubfoot Day! āœØšŸ‘£

Clubfoot affects around 1 in every 1,000 babies, but with early and correct treatment, kids with clubfoot can grow up to walk, run, and play just like their peers!

At Children’s Physio SA, we’re proud to support children and families through every step, from casting and bracing to therapy and beyond. šŸ’™

Today, we celebrate the strength of the children we work with and the incredible journeys they’re on. Swipe through to learn more about clubfoot! 🄳
