A clean space isn’t just about looking tidy — it’s about safety, dignity, comfort, and wellbeing 💙

In disability support, cleaning plays a much bigger role than most people realise.

Here’s why cleaning matters so much in support:

🔹 Prevents accidents and infections
A clutter‑free, hygienic space reduces tripping hazards, mould, and bacteria — especially important for people with low immunity or reduced mobility.

🔹 Creates a calm, safe environment
A tidy home supports mental wellbeing, reduces stress, and helps people feel in control of their space.

🔹 Promotes dignity and independence
Everyone deserves a home that feels good to live in. Cleaning support removes barriers, not independence.

🔹 Supports quality of life for people with chronic pain or palliative needs
When your body is already fighting, conserving energy matters. A clean, comfortable space can genuinely improve day‑to‑day comfort and emotional wellbeing.

🔹 Small tasks = big impact
Wiping benches, managing laundry, reducing clutter, emptying bins — these little things create a safer, gentler, easier environment to live in.

A clean home isn’t “just cleaning.”
It’s care. It’s support. It’s dignity.
And for many people, it makes all the difference 🦋

Let's talk about Psychosocial Recovery Coaching under the NDIS 🌱

What is it? 💭

Psychosocial recovery coaching is an NDIS support for people living with mental health challenges. A recovery coach works alongside you to build confidence and skills, focusing on your strengths, goals, and recovery journey.

How can a Recovery Coach help? 🌻

Recovery coaches create a personalised recovery plan, supporting you to set and reach your goals. They help you to manage daily challenges, understand your NDIS plan, and support you in building independence and resilience.

Why is it important? 💯

Recovery coaching helps to break down barriers like stigma and isolation, supporting both emotional and practical well-being. It helps you connect with the right supports and empowers you to make choices and take control.

Why choose Community Nursing SA? 💙

CNSA is dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centred support. We listen, respect, and understand your goals. With a strong focus on trust and advocacy, we're here to walk beside you for every step of your recovery journey.

Feel like your NDIS plan missed the mark? 🤔

Here’s what you can do if your plan doesn’t reflect your goals, needs, or supports:

1️⃣ Ask for an internal review
You have the right to request a review within 3 months of receiving your plan. This is called a “Review of a Reviewable Decision.”

2️⃣ Provide extra evidence
Letters from therapists, support workers, or health professionals can help show why certain supports are *reasonable and necessary* for you.

3️⃣ Speak with your Support Coordinator
They can help you understand the decisions, gather evidence, and guide you through the review process.

4️⃣ Go to the AAT (Administrative Appeals Tribunal)
If you still disagree after the internal review, you can take it further — and you’re allowed support to do this.

5️⃣ Remember: you’re allowed to self‑advocate
Your plan should reflect *your* goals, your independence, and your life.

You deserve a plan that truly supports your needs. If you’re feeling unsure or overwhelmed, reach out — we’re here to help you navigate every step 🦋

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome: Setting Realistic Goals for the New Year 🦋

The start of a new year often comes with big ambitions and high expectations — whether it’s personal goals, professional achievements, or new challenges in daily life.

While it’s exciting to aim high, it can also bring up feelings of imposter syndrome: that nagging thought that you’re not good enough, don’t deserve success, or aren’t capable of reaching your goals.

Why Imposter Syndrome Happens❓

Imposter syndrome is common, especially when stepping into new roles or tackling new challenges. It can make even small tasks feel overwhelming, and can lead to unnecessary stress or self-doubt. Many people — including staff, participants, and families — experience it at some point in the year.

Tying It to New Year Goals 🥅

The good news is that setting goals doesn’t have to feed imposter syndrome. The key is to make goals realistic, achievable, and meaningful:

🔹 Break big goals into smaller steps – small wins build confidence.

🔹 Focus on progress, not perfection – celebrating improvements matters more than being flawless.

🔹 Align goals with your own priorities – make sure your objectives feel achievable and relevant to your life or role.

🔹Ask for support when needed – whether from a mentor, support worker, or colleague, guidance can make a big difference.

Remember: Feeling self-doubt doesn’t mean you aren’t capable — it means you’re pushing yourself to grow. By setting realistic, actionable goals, you can start the year motivated, confident, and resilient, without being weighed down by self-doubt.

At Community Nursing SA, we encourage both staff and participants to set goals that inspire growth while remaining achievable. A thoughtful, realistic approach ensures the new year is a positive, productive, and confidence-building one.

Re-establishing Routine After the Holidays: Why It Matters for Participants ✅

The holiday season is a time of celebration, relaxation, and change. For many participants receiving disability or in-home supports, this period can also bring disruption to their usual routines. While breaks and flexibility are enjoyable, returning to a regular schedule can sometimes feel challenging or overwhelming.

Why Routine Is Important📝

Routine plays a critical role in promoting emotional wellbeing, independence, and confidence. Consistent daily structure helps participants know what to expect, reduces anxiety, and supports engagement in meaningful activities. For individuals with complex health or support needs, routine can also impact safety, medication adherence, and overall health outcomes.

How Support Workers Help 🫂

Support workers are key to re-establishing this structure. Their role goes beyond completing tasks—they provide guidance, encouragement, and continuity.

Some of the ways they help include:

🔹 Gently returning to familiar routines – gradually reintroducing activities like morning personal care, meals, and daily therapies.

🔹 Consistency in support – maintaining predictable patterns so participants feel secure.

🔹 Adapting to individual needs – recognising that each participant may need different levels of support or pace when re-adjusting.

🔹 Encouraging participation – helping participants engage in social, leisure, and community activities safely.

The Impact of Re-establishing Routine 🌿

When routine is restored thoughtfully, participants often experience increased independence, improved mood, and greater confidence in managing their daily lives. It also supports carers and families by reducing stress and helping everyone feel prepared for the weeks ahead.

At Community Nursing SA, we understand that the return to routine after holidays isn’t just about schedules—it’s about supporting participants’ wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life. Our staff work closely with participants to create a smooth transition back into structure, ensuring everyone feels safe, supported, and ready for the new year. 💙

As we welcome a new year, we want to pause and say thank you.
To everyone who has trusted us to walk alongside them, and to those who continue to support Community Nursing SA behind the scenes — we are truly grateful.

This past year has been one of huge milestones for CNSA. We truly couldn’t do it without our incredible team and the wonderful community that continues to support and trust us.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what lies ahead.
Here’s to 2026 and continuing to support our community with care, compassion, and connection 🦋✨️💙

🌻 Community Support Spotlight: Grocer with a Heart 🌻

As we head into a time of year that can be financially tough for many, we want to highlight an incredible local service that deserves to be far more well-known: Grocer with a Heart.

Located at 65 Sturt Road, Brighton, Grocer with a Heart is a not-for-profit community grocery store offering fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, pantry items, and essentials at extremely low prices. Their mission is simple — to ease the pressure on local families by making groceries more affordable for everyone.

💫 What They Offer:
• Anyone is welcome to shop — no referral or eligibility required
• A $3 membership gives access to very affordable food and household items
• Amazing deals, including 20 items for $20 sections and great variety
• Vouchers available for people experiencing hardship
• Friendly volunteers and a warm, welcoming environment

When our team visited, staff shared that they would love to support even more people, but many locals simply don’t know they exist. With more community awareness, they can expand what they offer and help even further.

⏰ Opening Hours:
Tuesday–Friday: 10am–12:30pm & 1:30pm–3:30pm
Saturday: 10am–1pm

💙 Why we’re sharing this:
This isn’t our usual content, but ensuring our community knows where to find support is incredibly important — especially at this time of year. If you or someone you know could use a little help, or if you just love a good bargain, Grocer with a Heart is well worth a visit.

Let’s spread the word and support this amazing initiative making a real difference in our community.
