Today I've been thinking about emotions and emotional avoidance.

For me emotional avoidance shows up in Shopping, Netflix binges, spending hours on Facebook, keeping busy and I'm sure there are many more.

These distractions are how we zone out so that we can avoid turning in.

But here's the thing.

Emotions are a part of the human experience and something we should embrace, even the emotions that feel uncomfortable.

When we avoid our emotions, we avoid life. We avoid the opportunity to experience the fullness of life and our potential.

While we don't need to dwell on the negative, it is also important not to pretend it's not there.

Respect what your emotions are trying to tell you. Honour those feelings. Allow them to move through you and then recognise that you have a choice to let that emotion go.

Exhale what is no longer serving you.

Where are you practicing emotional avoidance?

Self love is not just about having a bubble bath or taking a yoga class.⁣...

Whilst these things are lovely, true self love goes much deeper than this. ⁣😍

❤️Self love is about refusing to settle for less than what you truly deserve

❤️Self love is about changing the negative beliefs and thoughts you possess about yourself that are holding you back from living your fullest potential.⁣

❤️Self love is about learning how to let go of fears and doubts, trusting that The Universe is going to support you.⁣

❤️Self love is about honouring your authentic self and choosing to shine your light without fear or shame.⁣

When you practice true self love, you will come to realise that you can be, do and have anything your heart desires.⁣

The inner work to cultivate true self love isn’t always easy, but it IS necessary.

I spent many years living my life for other people. 😞⁣⁣ I had no idea who I actually was and what I wanted. ⁣⁣

Everything had a lens over it. ⁣⁣The lens was made up of all the things people wanted and needed from me.
⁣⁣
I rarely made decisions for myself, I was so worried whether it would be the ‘right’ one. ⁣⁣I said things I thought were acceptable’ rather than speaking my truth. ⁣⁣

I let the fear of disappointing others become a dark shadow over my biggest ideas and dreams. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I knew I couldn’t truly be helpful to anyone if I wasn’t being true to the one person who needs me the most: myself. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So, I decided it was time for some real talk!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Did I want to continue living life feeling stuck, lost, guilty and with regret?⁣ Of course not (and I trust if you are reading this, you don’t either) ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
One of the incredible parts of my personal journey has been to journal. ⁣⁣

⁣Sure, at first it was a stretch for me. It was hard to believe this could work.
⁣⁣
Then, after small steps (writing a few things that made me happy, setting weekly intentions) I gave myself the space to embark on a beautiful journey of self-discovery. ⁣⁣

A journey I am on daily.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There is something so powerful in bringing your true self to life on paper. ⁣Journaling is a space that I can dream big and I can write out the most extraordinary goals and visions for my future self. ⁣⁣

I allow my true being to shine, I listen to the inner guidance and hold the vision. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Whenever I feel self-doubt, guilt, people-pleasing & fear come up, I can go back to my journal and ask myself, is this what future Amanda would want for me right now? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What is one thing your future self wants for you right now? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Let me know below 💋⁣⁣

Are you keeping the promise you made to yourself ? Or have you ever broken a promise that you have made to yourself? Well I know I have, many times. Somehow it seems so easy to pull out on personal promises.

Promises like : “I promise to start eating healthy on Monday”, “I promise to get up early and go for a walk before work”, “I’ll go to bed early tonight”

More often than not, when you don’t live up to these personal commitments – you lose trust in yourself.

If you had a friend who constantly made promises and then let you down, what would you think of them? What value would you place on their promises? How long would you tolerate their behaviour?

Sometimes we treat ourselves much worse than we treat others.

When you break promises to yourself, you send a powerful message that you’re not important, you’re not worth it. You go against your values and your standards.

It can be really challenging to look yourself in the eye with respect and trust when you keep breaking promises to yourself.

Keeping promises to yourself has huge value for boosting self-confidence, self-esteem and self-love.

Learning to be accountable to yourself means you start to trust yourself. Each and every commitment you keep to yourself builds your self-esteem and faith in your ability to deliver. You learn to consistently do what you say you will.

Developing this sense of integrity will start to radiate into your relationships with the wider world. When you trust yourself, others will trust you more. You’ll find it easier to be honest with the world and call things as you see them.

Finally, you’ll be more productive and focused as you follow through on your most important commitments, commitments to yourself.

If you’d like to start keeping promises to yourself, START TODAY.

Finding your True North?

We all have an inner compass and as the traveller, in our journey, we need to ensure we are following our True North.

Your “true north”, your orienting point - helps you stay on track. It is staying true to your beliefs, values, and the principles you live by. When you have a clear understanding of what your beliefs and values are your life choices are purposefully and you experience the things you want.

When you are in conflict with your beliefs and values you may experience uncertainty, stress and poor decision making.

Today find your inner compass and continue to live a fulfilled life.

Becoming the Person We Are Meant to Be

Becoming who we are meant to be is a lifelong process. Sometimes we give up on life, refusing to become the person we are capable of becoming either because we think that we have missed the opportunity to do so or because we do not believe we can aspire to be more.

We sentence ourselves to live the rest of our lives being the person we are not, believing that we would never become the person we were meant to be. The truth is it’s never too late to become the person we were meant to be.

I trust I’m not the only one who has waited many years to realise I have a purpose, and that I’m not the only one who is fighting to achieve what I’m set out to do.

3 steps to living the life you are meant to live

The first is to believe in yourself, know that you are capable of becoming anything you want.

Secondly discover your life purpose.

Thirdly do everything you can in order to achieve it.

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” – E.E. Cumings

If you still think that you are not capable of being the person you were meant to be for whatever reason you may have, I will share with you a few examples of people who were doing something completely different before becoming the person they were meant to be.

* At age 23, Oprah was fired from her first reporting job.
* At age 24, Stephen King was working as a janitor and living in a trailer.
*At age 27, Vincent Van Gogh failed as a missionary and decided to go to art school.
*At age 28, J.K. Rowling was a suicidal single parent living on welfare.
*At age 30, Harrison Ford was a carpenter.
*At age 30, Martha Stewart was a stockbroker.
*Morgan Freeman landed his first MAJOR movie role at age 52.
*Samuel L. Jackson didn’t get his first movie role until he was 41.

Some people inherit success, others have to work hard to achieve it, but what really determines one’s success, is the ability to discover the reason of our existence, and live our life according to it.

Being the best version of ourselves, doing what we love is the key to a fulfilled life.

Do not settle with a life that is less than you deserve, it doesn’t matter where you are, who you are with, what you are doing, you can always become the person you truly want to become, do not let anyone say otherwise.

Love to you all xo

Writing helps us increase our self-awareness and also offers deeper insights that lead to both healing and transformation.

We all have a story to tell, whether we think we have lived what is considered an 'exciting' life or not. It is important to remember that, at some point, everyone has a life experience worth putting on the page. For many people, it is only through the action of writing that the healing of any emotional wounds can begin.

Let’s do a little exercise❤️

This will help you bring cognitive awareness to your emotions.

It will also help you understand how you respond to your emotions.

Feel free to do this on your own or contribute here on the group.

Question 2. I then tend too...

Question 3. To honour that Emotion even more I’d like to...

Push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. Go to the nearest hill with a big coat, your favorite blanket and a scarf and watch the sun rise.

Sunday is my favourite day & I love early Sunday mornings with a cup of coffee & reflect on the week. Lots of challenges & lots of highlights as always in a week. I think it’s so important to reflect weekly, what was great, what did I learn, what am I grateful for. A week goes so fast & by taking time to reflect you kind of re-live the week again & it helps you plan for a great week ahead. What was your highlight of the week?

Goals are something we are trying to achieve in the future and are sometimes challenging.

Our Values keep us motivated. If we are unclear on our values we may just give up when the going gets rough and we run out of the mojo to get us there.

Our give us , they are like a road map. They guide us and give us direction. They keep us on track.

If you are not achieving a goal it may just be that it is out of alignment with your values.

I would like to offer 2 people within this community a pro bono Values Elicitation.

If you would like to take up this offer please message me on messager and we can get started.

First thing in the morning is a good time to reflect on balance in your life, on what you want to let go of and what you want to bring in, what you want less of and what you want more of.
What would help you experience greater balance?
