Getting your flu vaccine each year before the peak flu season (June to September) provides the best protection.

⚠It usually takes up to two weeks for the flu vaccine to provide protection after you receive it.

FREE flu vaccines are available to eligible people in at-risk groups. If you are not eligible to get a free flu vaccine, visit a chemist, GP, or other immunisation provider.

People who are not eligible for Medicare can still get the COVID-19 vaccine for free.

Those eligible in phase 1a and phase 1b can currently get the free vaccine at GP-led Respiratory Clinics, with no requirement for a Medicare card.

March is Endometriosis awareness month!

Endometriosis affects 1 in 9 women.

Endometriosis is a disease in which the tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.

Symptoms are variable and can contribute to a delay in diagnosis.

Common symptoms include:
• Heavy periods or irregular bleeding
• Severe abdominal or pelvic pain before and during a period, when having s*x or going to the toilet
• Bladder and bowel problems
• Bloating
• Fatigue
• Fertility problems
• Vaginal discomfort

Wearing a mask is now mandatory in health care settings.

Please come prepared to your appointment with your own mask.

Telehealth appointments can be booked online at www.unisamedical.com.au and all face to face appointments can be booked by calling 1300 172 996.

From 12.01 am 1 December 2020, all people in health care settings must wear a single-use surgical mask (covering mouth and nose) at all times when in the physical presence of other people on the premises.

All people includes:
▪️care providers
▪️patients
▪️clients
▪️residents
▪️administrative and other staff
▪️employees
▪️visitors
▪️students
▪️contractors
▪️any other person on the premises

❗️There are exceptions for mandatory mask use in health care settings. A person is exempt where the mask will hinder the care which is being provided, there is a medical condition, communication with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing is required, the person is under 12 and the person is a live in staff member or a resident of a residential care facility.

The definition of a health care setting includes GP clinics, public and private hospitals and specialist practices (including drug and alcohol facilities), pharmacies, allied health services, dental services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.

We are available for face to face and telehealth consults.

However, please note UniSA Health Medical Clinic will NOT be seeing patients with respiratory symtpoms (even if only mild), or COVID-19 symptoms.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can include: fever, coughing, sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, loss of taste and shortness of breath.
