How amazing does Dr Hanan Maghazaji, the Gynaecologist, look at the most recent conference she went to! 💅

A couple of weeks ago Dr Maghazaji attended the Urogynaecological Society of Australasia Annual Scientific Meeting (a bit of a tongue twister…) hosted in New Zealand.

Issues discussed ranged from prolapse, incontinence, UTI’s and more, with presenters from all over the world in attendance. 🌎

She also had opportunities to learn about new, emerging technologies to address these concerns, as well as be involved in workshops around s*xual dysfunction and vulvar disease.

30+ years experience and still learning - it’s what we love to see! 💫

It’s not easy being a frontline worker.

Long hours, hard shifts, difficult conversations.

Missed birthdays, anniversaries, get togethers.

Blood, sweat and lots and lots of tears.

So it’s time that someone looks after you! Those that care deserved to be cared for. 10% off all dermal therapist services is our small way of saying thank you to all the amazing work you do.

You give so much, it’s time to give a little back to you. 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Leak when you laugh, cough or sneeze? Let us explain! 👇🏼

If you leak when you laugh, sneeze, or cough, you’re not alone. Up to 1 in 3 women who have had a baby experience incontinence, and almost 4 out of 10 of all women in Australia experience incontinence. Though common, it is treatable.

Incontinence is the loss of bladder control and can range from occasional leaks to frequent urges to urinate. It’s often linked to pregnancy, hormonal changes, or weakened pelvic floor muscles. But, it’s completely manageable with the right care.

The two main types are stress incontinence, which are leaks with laughing, sneezing, or exercise, and urge incontinence, which is the sudden, strong urge to urinate, even if your bladder isn’t full.

Understanding which type of incontinence you have helps your healthcare provider create the best treatment plan. Both are treatable, and both respond well to targeted care.

Daily habits play a big role in bladder health. Managing your fluid intake, avoiding constipation, and staying active can all help reduce leaks and improve bladder control naturally.

Depending on your symptoms and issues, pelvic floor (Kegel) exercises may be recommended to strengthen the muscles that support your bladder and urethra, helping you regain better control and confidence. A women’s health physiotherapist can prescribe these and guide you on how to perform them correctly.

Depending on the type and cause of incontinence, your doctor may recommend medication, pelvic support devices (pessaries), or referral to a physiotherapist. You don’t have to manage this alone, professional help works.

If symptoms persist, advanced options like nerve stimulation, the Neotonus Chair, which uses magnetic pulses to stimulate pelvic floor muscles, or surgery, may assist in addressing those concerns

If you’re struggling with bladder leaks, please know, though common, it is treatable.

You’re not powerless. We can help. 🫶🏽

We can help you understand your symptoms and guide you through treatment options that truly work.

Menstrual cramps suck, we know! They can be a monthly struggle for many women. 1000’s of women have come through the clinic struggling with cramps.

Here’s a few things you can do to try to make them better.👇🏼

Heat Therapy
Applying a wheat bag or using a warm water bottle on your lower abdomen can provide soothing relief during menstrual cramps. Heat therapy helps relax the muscles and reduce pain. 💫

Relaxation Techniques
Practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, gentle stretching, or taking warm baths can help ease menstrual cramps. Give yourself permission to take some time for self-care during your period. 👏🏽

Medications
Over the counter pain relief like Ponstan or Ibuprofen can be effective in reducing pain. Remember to follow the recommended dosage and consult your doctor prior to starting any medication! 💊

Herbal Remedies
Some women find relief with herbal remedies like chamomile tea or ginger. These natural options may offer comfort and reduce pain. Remember to consult with your doctor before trying any new remedies. 🌿

Seek Medical Help
It’s great to have these strategies in place to manage menstrual cramps, but it is important to know when to seek medical advice. While most menstrual cramps are “manageable” (very conscious of saying manageable!) if your cramps are severe, consistently interfering with daily activities, or accompanied by other concerning symptoms, it’s important to consult your doctor. 👩‍⚕️

Remember, every woman’s experience with menstrual cramps is unique, so it’s important to find what works best for you. 🫶🏽

We know how frustrating skin breakouts can be. Did you know why they happen? 👇🏼

Often it’s not just a single cause but a mix of factors!

💋 Products
Sometimes the products we use, make-up, skincare, or even hair products, can trigger breakouts. If they’re too oily, too harsh, or strip your skin barrier, your skin can respond by producing excess oil, leading to clogged pores and pimples.

⚖️ Hormones
Hormonal changes, like during your cycle, pregnancy, or even stress, can cause excess oil production. This excessive oil, combined with dead skin cells and bacteria, can cause clogged pores and breakouts, especially around the jawline, chin, and cheeks.

🥛🍫 Diet
What you eat can also influence your skin. Foods high in sugar and dairy may trigger hormonal shifts and increase oil production. This extra oil can clog pores and cause inflammation, making breakouts more likely.

🛌 Lifestyle
Lack of sleep, high stress, or poor mental health can slow down your skin’s natural healing. This means breakouts can take longer to heal and sometimes get worse.

Though breakouts are common, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. If they’re starting to impact your confidence or just not settling however, a skin consult can help you figure out what’s really going on and the best way forward for your skin. 🫶🏽

“We’ve been together for 10 years but we never have penetrative s*x”

“Every time we attempt s*x it’s like razor blades”

“I was married for 50 years but never had an orgasm”

“I don’t feel like having s*x but nigel guilty”

“I feel like I’m letting my partner down”

These are real women’s stories. Sexual dysfunction is a problem experienced by many women. But yet, it’s still stigmatised and taboo.

Just know, if you feel this way, or have experienced any of those thoughts, there is help available. You don’t need to feel ashamed. We’re here when you’re ready🫶🏽
