A simple foot bath is one of the most powerful ways to calm the nervous system and bring the body back into balance.

Simply fill a bath or bucket with water over your ankles and one third the way up your shin. You can add ginger, moxa, Chinese pepper, apple cider vinegar, magnesium or aromatherapy but truth is, its the warm doing the work. Soak for 10-20 minutes before bed.

In Chinese medicine, it helps to draw excess Yang down from the head — which is why it’s so helpful for stress, anxiety, headaches and poor sleep.

By warming the feet, you’re stimulating the Spleen, Liver and Kidney channels, supporting circulation, digestion and hormonal balance.

From a Western perspective, the warmth encourages vasodilation, improving blood flow and helping the body shift into a more relaxed, parasympathetic state.

Simple, grounding, and deeply regulating. Sometimes the simplest rituals are the most powerful.

Enjoy!

Sleep is one of the first things to suffer when your body is out of balance.

In clinic, I see so many people who are exhausted… but can’t switch off.

From a Chinese medicine perspective, sleep relies on a calm mind, nourished Blood, and energy that can settle downward at night.

Simple changes — like warming the body, eating earlier, and creating a consistent wind-down routine — can make a huge difference.

Even something as simple as a warm foot bath can help signal to your body that it’s safe to rest.

If your sleep is feeling off, your body isn’t broken — it just needs the right support 🤍

You don’t need to quit coffee.

But how you drink it matters — especially if you’re dealing with:
fatigue, anxiety, hormone imbalances, or gut issues.

In clinic, this is one of the simplest shifts that creates the biggest change.

From a Chinese medicine perspective, coffee on an empty stomach weakens the Spleen (your energy system) and agitates the nervous system.

From a science perspective, it spikes cortisol, disrupts blood sugar, and can leave you more depleted long-term.

Small habit → big impact.

Hi, I’m Carly — a degree-qualified Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine practitioner and founder of The Little Acu Co.

My journey into Chinese medicine began through my own experiences with fertility, migraines and autoimmunity. Acupuncture understood & supported me in ways I hadn’t experienced before — not only physically, but emotionally. That experience led me to dedicate myself to studying this medicine deeply and clinically.

Today, my work bridges ancient Chinese medicine with modern, evidence-based healthcare. I’m deeply science-minded, yet grounded in the thousands of years of empirical wisdom that underpin acupuncture.

I treat both men and women, with experience in:

• Pain and musculoskeletal conditions
• Nervous system regulation and burnout
• Women’s health and hormonal balance
• Skin health and regenerative therapies (cosmetic acupuncture & microneedling)

Where my work truly comes alive is in women’s health. I support women navigating chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, hormonal shifts, digestive concerns and weight changes — always with a calm, trauma-aware and deeply restorative approach that helps rebuild resilience from the inside out.

I have undertaken training in Japanese acupuncture — a refined and gentle style known for its precision and root-cause approach. I trained under Vidhya Rojanavongse, one of the few practitioners globally authorised to teach KMS-style acupuncture by Kiiko Matsumoto Sensei.

I have completed training in dry needling through ACE Clinical Education, supporting complex musculoskeletal presentations, sports recovery and performance.

Alongside traditional Chinese and Japanese acupuncture, I offer cosmetic acupuncture and clinical microneedling. I have trained under Dr Vivian Tam in Cosmetic Acupuncture and internationally renowned educator Michelle Gellis in microneedling. I support concerns including acne, pigmentation, fine lines, scarring and dull or stressed skin — working from an inside-out, whole-body perspective.

At The Little Acu Co., treatments are highly personalised and designed to create meaningful, lasting change — not just symptom relief.

My aim is to help you feel at home in your body 🤍

Welcome Autumn, despite always a sad goodbye to summer...

Autumn is time for us to slow down. Just as the weather starts to cool and the leaves start to turn a beautiful shade of red and then brown, we too might notice some changes within.

As humans, we are part of nature. Despite modern ways of living separating us from this rhythm, we should try to move with the natural world and flow with the seasonal shifts as they come.

Autumn is a season of dryness, contraction, and moving inwards. In traditional Chinese medicine, it corresponds to the lung and the large intestine. Care should be taken for the lungs as they are more susceptible to respiratory 'evils' at this time. The large intestine is associated with 'letting go', just as the trees will let go of what no longer serves them, we can reflect on this idea of 'letting go' for ourselves also.

Now is the time to eat less cold and raw foods that were cooling for us in summer and move to warmer seasonal foods. Foods such as sweet potato, broccoli, and beetroot, will help your body to adjust to the change. Apples and pears can help nourish your lungs, and adding pungent foods such as ginger to your foods will help build your immunity or 'defensive qi'.

Be well - Returning with you to the Yin side

Another of the exciting things i've been working on ✨️
Clinical microneedling now at The Little Acu Co.

What is Microneedling!? Microneedling is all about working with your skin’s natural intelligence

By creating controlled micro-stimuli, microneedling activates fibroblasts — the cells responsible for collagen, elastin, and skin repair. Over the weeks that follow, the skin rebuilds itself stronger, smoother, and more resilient from the inside out.

This is why results continue to improve long after your treatment.
It’s not just glow — it’s regeneration.

At The Little Acu Co., clinical microneedling is approached thoughtfully and holistically, supporting skin health, barrier function, and long-term vitality — especially for midlife and hormonally changing skin.

If your skin is asking for renewal rather than more stimulation, microneedling may be the support it needs.
