Do you know physiotherapy can be an effective and non-invasive treatment option for BPPV, and can help to improve a person's balance, reduce dizziness, and improve their quality of life?
A physiotherapist can perform specific maneuvers to reposition the displaced calcium crystals in the inner ear, which helps to alleviate the symptoms of vertigo.
The most common maneuver used by physiotherapists to treat BPPV is called the Epley maneuver, also known as the canalith repositioning procedure.
During this maneuver, the physiotherapist guides the patient through a series of head movements that help to move the calcium crystals out of the affected ear canal and into a different part of the inner ear where they no longer cause vertigo symptoms.
If you experience dizziness associated with BPPV, feel free to schedule an appointment for an assessment and treatment with one of our physiotherapists with/without a doctor’s referral.
