Hey there! For simplicity, we have decided to combine the Headache Clinic page with the Adelaide West Physio + Pilates page.

If you don't follow our 'home' page, you can do so here. We would love to see you join us over there, where there is a regular flow of info on all topics as well as headache and migraine.

We now have Lachlan Sutherland and Lisa Vernon providing Watson Headache approach services too, so this is in no way a signal that we are doing less headache work, we are doing more!

A very interesting weekend of top quality talks hosted by Watson Headache Institute, there were some real standout talks about conditions that might not normally be associated with headache or migraine, like cyclic vomiting syndrome.

I can't say I've ever heard of this, but migraines present in so many different ways! Isn't it amazing that it isn't just an aura, but a change in speech that is ongoing? You must admit, despite all the things that can happen, the brain is so cool!! 😮

A reminder that you have to do your due diligence when you are seeking any treatment, especially headache or migraine treatment. You would normally expect a medical doctor to have scruples though.

A South Australian doctor has admitted his claims that migraine is no longer a mystery and he could heal conditions like Alzheimer's disease and chronic fatigue using laser therapy were misleading and false advertising, court documents reveal.

Interesting study. Another piece of literature that adds to the anecdotal experience that people with migraine often have neck pain and that neck pain might not just be result of the migraine. That is certainly our experience with examining and helping migraine sufferers using Watson Headache approach.

This study unfortunately didn't include any manual joint testing assessment techniques like the Watson Headache approach.

However, they did find that in combination, forward head posture, some cervical range of movement limitation, postive flexion-rotation test and pressure pain threshold distinguished between migraine sufferers and controls.

An updated blog on the way your neck can contribute to headaches and migraines. The neuroanatomy is clear, and makes it easy to understand how upper neck dysfunction can present as head pain, and can also change the 'setting' of a key bit of your brainstem that is involved in all headaches and migraine.

Support from the medical community for the idea of the neck being involved in headache or migraine has been weak. We outline evidence that challenges that.

I have been threatening to do a summary of the Watson Headache Summit for a while now - well, here is the first installment. Some key take home messages for anyone who has headache/migraine or anyone who treats them. Medication overuse headache pops again, mental health, and why sufferers are often not truly free between episodes.
