Announcing our latest SA Sports Medicine Association Regional Education Ambassador, Dr Ali Lydeamore! 🤩

Ali has been a long time SASMA member, supporting community sports medicine education and junior doctor training on the Eyre Peninsula for many years.

Great to acknowledge Ali's contribution and ongoing passion in supporting SASMA and active participation 💪

Our Professional Members play an invaluable role in supporting a safe sport and active environment across our fantastic State.

Dr Lydeamore is kindly volunteering in this position, assisting with regional engagement and will be an important ink to SASMA programs.

Over the weekend SASMA Education Manager, Alex, travelled to the Eyre Peninsula to deliver 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 Level 1 Sports Trainer Courses in the region! 🤩

Saturday we had a great turnout at the Wayback Football Club in Port Lincoln, and Sunday wrapped up the weekend of education in Elliston! 💪

Thank you to 30+ local community members who attended over the weekend, gaining their accreditations and supporting a safe sporting environment in their community! 👏

Great to run our first Level 1 Sports Trainer of 2026 over the weekend! 🤩

Fantastic to have a range of attendees from a variety of backgrounds and sports in attendance, gaining their accreditation and supporting a safer sporting environment across SA! 👏

The course covered a number of topics and practical demonstrations, including, injury prevention and management, concussion, soft/hard tissue injuries, sports taping, stretcher work, and more! 🧠⛑️💪

The 2026 Santos Tour Down Under wrapped up this afternoon with Men’s Stage 5 in leafy Stirling! 🚴

We were thrilled to once again be involved in this fantastic event for our state, well done to all the event organisers and staff for putting on a great show! 🤩

Our brilliant team worked long and hard throughout the tour, caring for the riders and support staff, working alongside the SA Ambulance Service 🚑

We would like to again mention Tour Doctors and SASMA Members, Dr Janet Young and Dr Kevyn Hernandez for their leadership, assisted by Natalie Morgan and Shane Worner who worked tirelessly throughout the event 👩🏻‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️

Finally, to our incredible team of Sports Trainers involved over the 9 days, thank you for your expertise and knowledge, the medical team couldn’t run without you! 👏

A few big days for our team at the Santos Tour Down Under with the Men’s Race commencing Tuesday evening!

The men’s stages begun with the prologue through the city, travelled through the Barossa yesterday and from Norwood to Uraidla this afternoon for Stage 2 🚴 ⛰️ 🍇

The men’s race is led by Dr Kevyn Hernandez as Race Doctor, and supported by our excellent sports trainer team.

We are proud to showcase our experise on the internatonal stage, working alongside the fantastic SA Ambulance Service paramedics and wider event team 🚑

The Tour continues until Sunday, with riders travelling through more hills, coastlines and vineyards.

Great to be back supporting the Santos Tour Down Under for another year! 🤩

SASMA have a long standing relationship with this fantastic event, managing the medical services for over 25 years! 💪

The women’s stages commenced yesterday in Willunga, and today’s stage 2 saw riders climb from Magill to Paracombe 🚵‍♀️

Our expert team of staff, sports trainers and doctors, led by women’s race doctor, Dr Janet Young, are proud to support the brilliant riders competing in this international event! 👏

The womens race concludes tomorrow with stage 3 starting in Norwood, and finishing in Athelstone 🚴‍♀️🏆
