🏃‍♀️ WELLBEING WEDNESDAY 🏃‍♀️

First run logged with Strava and AR Hybrid Training July Run Club through 👊

That was a struggle. My body doesn’t enjoy running, but I’m always looking for a challenge and the journey to get me there is always a learning curve and opportunity for growth. Although next Saturday is half marathon #5 for me, fitting training in around work and mum life has been a juggle. If you want something bad enough though, excuses won’t cut it. You just gotta get in there, do the work and get it done! It doesn’t matter what it looks like, giving it a crack will do!

What are some of your goals right now and what are you actively doing to work towards them? ✨

🍎 STUDENT FORUM 🍎

Today 8 x Yr8s from my school attended the Respectful Relationships Education Student Forum to help develop the Department for Education, South Australia vision for updating curriculum in this space. We were among 300 other students and staff from schools across SA. Uncle Tamaru gave an insightful welcome to country on Kaurna Land, we heard from DfE Chief Executive Professor Martin Westwell’s enthusiastic ideas about future change and support, and MC and educator Summer kept the day engaging and interactive.

Today we got involved in:

🔹 ice breaker activities
🔹 interacting with students from other schools
🔹 brainstorming what respectful relationships mean in schools
🔹 identify what type of learners we are
🔹 had opportunities to try new things in a safe, non-judgmental space
🔹 share ideas with others
🔹 co-designing conversation cards

This was a great experience for all students and our lunch view was pretty impressive ☀️

🔥 WINTER WARMER 🔥

12km treddy @ 6min/km 🏃‍♀️
30min sauna @ 60deg 🥵

That’s one way to warm up in this crazy cold, as well as distract the mind from wandering thoughts!

Thanks to for always providing a safe space for everyone to train and to work towards their goals.

And a little life perspective reading The Resilience Project 2nd book (Let Go) while in the sauna these past few weeks. “Letting go” has been such a take away and empowering to set boundaries and preserve my own happiness.

If you want it, take it.
Go get your goals.
Break free.

❣️ KINDNESS ❣️

Today’s Yr8 health toolbox lesson focussed on developing elements of social health. We began by answering some questions about kindness:

🔹What does kindness look like?
🔹How does empathy feel?
🔹Why are communication and teamwork important in friendships or group settings?
🔹How do you think it feels to give and receive kind words?
🔹What does a healthy relationship (or friendship) look, feel and sound like?
🔹How could you be kind at home?
🔹What are some random acts of kindness you can do for strangers?

We then played a modified version of silent ball and everyone had to say something kind about the student they threw the ball to, in a circle. One class found this a bit challenging and the other class found it a bit easier. A learning moment for each and highlighting that everyone is different and has different strengths.

Once I got home, I continued the kindness conversation with Miss 4 & Miss 7 and came up with some of their own ideas 🥰 it’s so cute to see how well their writing has developed since starting kindy and Yr2 and explaining why they’d chosen to write their ideas.

A big shoutout to Growing With Gratitude Wellbeing Wizard AI tool that I’m currently trialing, for some of the prompts provided ✨

🍎 SACE MEETING 👩‍🏫

For meeting #3 of the Subject Renewal Group today, students were invited to give their perspectives on what they like about their subject and ways it could be improved.

I’m extremely proud of one of my Health & Wellbeing students generating a survey prior to today, to 53 staff, students and parents of our subject to help inform SACE of local views and suggestions within our subject area. Kani got to have the table and confidently present her findings, as well as advocate for the flexibility and learner agency that the Health & Wellbeing subject provides to so many students.

From here we look at ideating, collaborating and testing a pilot task in Term 3 at Stage 1 level, utilising the key drivers to support us in our task design and demonstration of meta cognition, natural evidence of learning and deep authentic learning.

There’s lots of work to be done, but networking with likeminded professionals along the journey is definitely worth it ✨

🖤💛❤️ RECONCILIATION WEEK 🖤💛❤️

Today we’re wearing yellow to show our support and commitment to walking together for a better future.

Students worked in mentor groups to make purple hibiscus flowers during Care Group this week and today the Nunga team served kangaroo sausages for staff and students to try — celebrating culture, connection, and community 🙌

🎲 RESILIENCE & KINDNESS 🎲

This week’s wellbeing lesson centred around tough times that we’ve had and highlighting the strategies used to overcome them. It opened conversations between students and teachers, as well as deep personal reflections about how far we’ve come to be where we are today.

50mins. Two activities. And that still wasn’t enough time!

🎲 Dice of Resilience
🥰 Kindness notes for peers

Big shoutout to Growing With Gratitude for the Dice of Resilience activity and their new Wellbeing Wizard AI tool to create lesson resources that are linked to the Australian Curriculum 📝👏
I’ve been lucky enough to trial it and turn lessons into instructional videos, age appropriate and educationally approved ✔️

My favourite part of the lesson was how students wrote a kind note for everyone else. At the end, we all ended up with a page full of positive and kind words. A little pep for your Thursday ✨

☀️ RECHARGE ☀️

Movement. Tunes. Food. Friends. Quiz Nights. Naps. Cuddles + Slow Sunny Sunday vibes.

Life just seems so hectic right now and being pulled in all directions feels so overwhelming. This is your reminder to take a moment to breathe and spend time with those who recharge your batteries.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend doing things that fill your cup up ✨

💕 GRATITUDE 💕

A cute little activity that I did with my Yr11 & Yr12 classes today. Such a quick and simple way to rewire the brain into a positive mindset and be reminded of all of the little ✨ GLIMMERS ✨ in our days.

🧡 DUOLINGO 🧡

Trying something new doesn’t have to be huge — just fun! I’ve been using Duolingo to learn a new language (French 🇫🇷), and it’s become such a simple, fun part of my day. Connecting and sharing new words with friends (and getting a few laughs) makes it even better.

Learning a new language also has great health benefits:
🧡 improved memory
🧡 problem-solving abilities
🧡 brain health

Here’s to growing, learning, and saying yes to new things — one little lesson at a time ✨
