Occupational Therapy at University of South Australia

Occupational Therapy at University of South Australia The place for information about Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia Occupational Therapy is an exciting and growing health profession.

Occupational Therapists work collaboratively with people to enable them to actively engage in socially meaningful occupations regardless of limitations. These limitations can be caused by injury or illness, psychological or emotional disabilities, delays in development, effects of ageing, or environmental or societal barriers. Occupational Therapists play an important role to help clients achieve their goals which allow them to lead easier lifestyles. The Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) prepares students for dynamic careers across the diverse areas of occupational therapy practice. Students develop knowledge and skills in mental health, acute care, physical rehabilitation, community health, work rehabilitation, aged care and paediatrics. With a strong focus on patient outcomes, students advance their competency in the science behind occupational therapy as well as the communication and relationship skills essential for patient care. Tutor Opportunity

Greetings again from the OT teaching team at UniSA!

We are looking for OTs to visit students on placement in both Preschools and Aged Care.

If you are interested, your role would be to visit a pair of students every fortnight, provide them with feedback on their performance and tips for running their activity groups.

Aged Care students implement the CST program: Making a Difference; and Preschools implement the SMILE child development program.

Students love having the visiting tutors on site and really value your input.

The details are as follows:
- This is a paid role
- You can choose whether you visit students on Wednesdays, or Thursdays, or do both days
- You can choose whether you do full day visits (visit a pair in the morning; then visit another pair in the afternoon), or do only am or only pm visits
- You will visit the same pair of students fortnightly
- You can also do weekly visits and see another pair of students in alternating weeks
- You get paid for your travel time if you do full days
- Let me know what geographical area you live/work in and I will try and accommodate you to not travel too far
- We will schedule a tutor meeting before the visits start, especially for new tutors

Please contact scott.weeks@unisa.edu.au if you would like more information or to express your interest.
