“I think I say that because patients want to know something. And they want to know that we as physicians have some basic understanding of what we’re doing when we’re prescribing medications. They certainly don’t want to know that a psychiatrist essentially has no idea how these medications work.”

Sorry, this is the truth - unfortunately. I wish medicine would have everything figured out 😊

Let's talk about Male Fertility

Male Fertility & Acupuncture

When it comes to fertility issues, the main patient treated in a Chinese Medicine clinic is women, as they want to improve fertility naturally. The less likely scenario is that the male comes along with his partner for acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatment as well. For some reason, men are often reluctant to seek help and don’t want to know if they are infertile. It might be difficult for a man to talk about this touchy subject or act upon it. I personally think they are more manly when they turn up with an attitude of getting better and being on board to do whatever it takes to create the family they want with their partner.

How Can I Help?

Infertility is a widespread issue. We are reaching statistics which show that almost 50% of infertility is due to the male partner and 50% the female. For about 30% of couples, the problem is in both partners. Therefore, the man contributes to infertility in around half of all cases. Therefore, for the best chance of having a baby, both sides must do their part. A study by Sherman, (2009) assessed the effect of acupuncture on the s***m quality of males suffering from subfertility related to s***m impairment. After 10 acupuncture treatments, results showed that the participants’ fertility index increased significantly following improvement in total functional s***m fraction, percentage of viability, total motile s***matozoa per ej*****te, and integrity of the axonema which occurred upon treatment. Therefore, patients exhibiting a low fertility potential due to reduced s***m activity may benefit from acupuncture treatments. In the hands of a highly trained practitioner, acupuncture is safe and effective, but I’ll make sure to explain any side effects possible for peace of mind.

I’m going through IVF, can acupuncture enhance results? And how many treatments will I need?

(join the discussion on the EBA Forum about this article and the BMJ analysis mentioned) 🙌

"Research on acupuncture has been extensive, and so far, robust evidence supports its effectiveness for some, but not all, conditions. According to one analysis published in February 2022 in the BMJ that analyzed more than 2,000 scientific reviews of acupuncture therapies, the science is strongest behind acupuncture’s efficacy for post-stroke aphasia; neck, shoulder, and muscle pain; fibromyalgia pain; lactation issues after delivery; lower back pain; vascular dementia symptoms; and allergy symptoms.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) finds that acupuncture for pain relief tends to have the most evidence, especially for conditions that have become chronic like osteoarthritis and lower back pain, as well as tension headaches. A review of 11 clinical trials also suggests that acupuncture may help with symptoms associated with cancer treatment, the NIH notes."

Ladies and gents, I’m doing a business course, and for this course I need to put myself in a very uncomfortable situation and ask people:

what are my 3 best qualities?

Just by watching this video, your hands will feel warmer 😄

Traditionally, one of the main reasons a woman can not get pregnant is due to cold - cold drinks, cold food, cold cold cold!
That's one of the reasons I often use a heat lamp or cupping during treatment - it feels so good!

Doesn't it??

Sorry, perhaps boring post but highly needed for our profession.

I am a Dr of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturist. Since 2012 we have been regulated. We pay high fees to AHPRA. We pay high fees for CMBA. We pay a lot.
However, to today date we are still being discriminated against. We continue to face discrimination as the ONLY Allied health profession that is not included in mainstream health referrals for Chronic disease management plans as we are not covered by Medicare.

It personally breaks my heart to tell people that acupuncture is not yet covered by Medicare and/or other health care plans, therefore the price to pay is as high as any other health care professional if they would not be included in medicare/plan.

Due to elections coming up, it is now the time to make a change for our profession.

Please sign and share. I'd appreciate it immensely.
