Rattle Ya’ Bones Day is a National Day of Awareness for all muscle, bone and joint conditions. It’s held every year on Halloween (31 October).
Also known as musculoskeletal conditions, these conditions are often downplayed as “normal wear and tear”, “just aches and pains” or “part of getting older”.
But they’re much more than that!
These conditions can cause chronic, often debilitating pain, fatigue, and reduced mobility, not to mention sleep deprivation, time off work, loss of employment and financial pressures. All of which can significantly affect a person’s emotional and mental well-being.
Staggeringly, 7 million Australians live with conditions like arthritis, back pain, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and over 150 other musculoskeletal conditions. And, because there are often few visible signs of the pain and suffering caused by musculoskeletal conditions, most people are unaware of the enormous impact they can have.
Many people have told us they feel invisible. That’s why we created Rattle Ya’ Bones Day. We want to bring awareness to these invisible conditions so that those who have them are seen and their pain understood.
