☁️🧴 Even in the cooler months, the sun’s UV rays are still hard at work! Just because it’s cloudy or chilly doesn’t mean your skin is safe. Make sun protection part of your daily routine, even in winter! 🌤️💛
Remember high school maths? Luckily, remembering to wear a hat is so much easier! 🤠
To protect your skin from the sun, all you’ve got to do is grab a hat that protects your head, face, neck and ears. The best kinds are wide-brimmed or bucket hats with an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) rating. 👒.
The UPF rating is based on how well the material blocks UV and how much of the head it protects. The higher the rating, the more you’re protected. Hats with a rating of UPF50 and UPF50+ are recommended (easiest maths ever, right?).
There are other important things to keep in mind like:
☀️ the quality of sun protection your hat offers
☀️ whether it is practical
☀️ safety
☀️ ventilation (for during physical activity or in warmer weather).
Whenever you’re outside, reduce your risk of skin cancer by doing the 5 s’s:
🧥 slip on protective clothing
🧴 slop on SPF50+ sunscreen
👒 slap on a broad-brimmed hat
⛱️ seek shade
🕶️ slide on close-fitting wrap-around sunglasses.
