FAB Counselling

FAB Counselling Qualified & registered Christian counsellor. That gives us great HOPE. That’s very normal. FAB Counselling is not, however, an "inner healing" or prayer ministry.

Along life’s journey, I've discovered that sometimes our most painful and challenging experiences can become powerful catalysts for growth and transformation. Though none of us welcome pain and suffering, we can trust God, the beautiful Grand-Weaver, to bring PURPOSE from our pain. If you are new to counselling, I understand you may be feeling nervous or unsure about what to expect. My heart is to create a warm, safe and non-judgmental LISTENING SPACE where you will feel valued and understood. I provide counselling for:
- abuse recovery & trauma
- self-worth & acceptance
- Christian identity & growth
- shame & guilt issues
- boundaries
- assertiveness & communication
- grief & loss
- depression
- anxiety
- trust & intimacy w/God
- leadership burn out/prevention
- returned missionaries/culture shock
- counselling for spiritual abuse
- exiting/recovery from Christian cults
- cross cultural

My counselling approach is very person-centred. I use an evidence-based counselling model, which is wholistic, (body, soul & spirit) and eclectic, drawing from a range of counselling streams. Although I work within a Western cultural framework, I'm also very sensitive to the fact that most counselling is biased towards an individualistic mindset and approach. Coming from a multicultural family background, I understand the depth and complexity of cultural dynamics. I have enjoyed many years of working cross-culturally in a variety of ministry roles and contexts both in Australia and overseas. My faith in God and the Bible does influence my practice and approach to counselling. I am wholeheartedly and unapologetically a disciple and lover of Christ Jesus. I offer professional counselling for Christians. I am fully qualified with an Advanced Diploma in Counselling (Christian) and Family Therapy, a two-year full-time course through the Australian Institute of Family Counselling. I’ve also completed one year (36 units) towards a Bachelor in Psychology (University of South Australia) and have a Bachelor in Visual Arts (UNISA). I'm registered member of the Christian Counsellors Association of Australia (CCAA). I’m committed to ongoing professional development, and the pursuit of my own personal growth, transformation and intimacy with Christ.

Pockets in dresses are nice and everything, but ending the pathologisation of women’s trauma is better ❤️

To all my incredible peers working in mental health and counselling, I know this time of year often involves holding space for clients who are in deep pain. As one of my amazing clients reminded me this morning, may you never forget the difference you make!

If the Bible says church leaders must be free from abuse and rage, why can it be considered offensive or inappropriate or unnecessary to inquire of or to report such things? These qualifications weren’t suggestions. They are guardrails for the flock. Healthy elders should welcome questions regarding the standards Scripture gives.
