So if you have been training hard and now are needing a massage, you can book a treatment with me. Still only $50 / hour.
Please PM me for a booking time. Look forward to seeing you soon.
Cheers Pete.

Did you ride the Brisbane to Gold Coast event on Sunday or do another another sporting event over the weekend ? Now is a good time to book a post event massage.
How can a post event massage help you may ask ?
A post event massage uses a variety of techniques including Swedish massage, Sports massage and assisted stretching (MET).
Combined, these can help ease the pain of DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) which is the deep muscle ache you get after a hard workout. Post event massage also helps treat and prevent delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). A post event massage helps aid recovery after exercise. Massage can help prevent post exercise soreness, restore range of movement and encourage blood flow to tight muscles. Receiving a post event massage immediately after exercise will significantly reduce soreness, fatigue and tightness within the next 72 hours. Post event massage will help speed up the removal of metabolic wastes relieving increased tone. If DOMS are apparent following exercise, massage can also help to relieve and reduce symptoms.
Massage helps to promote circulation and lengthen muscles so that movement is increased. Soreness is also reduced by increasing the temperature of the muscles so that fibres relax and loosen.
Pain can occur in the muscles after exercise. Post event massage can help treat acute pains such as muscular fatigue and tension.
Post event massage helps to speed up the removal of waste products that can cause a build-up of tension. Many massage techniques are used to increase circulation and lymph flow to assist in the removal of waste products. Pain is also reduced by encouraging the muscles to relax. Muscles fibres can be loosened and stretched relieving pressure.
So if you would like to feel great after your event, make a booking now with me, and together we'll help you move better.

Why is massage good for cyclist ?
When we cycle regularly we use the same muscles over and over but never to their full range of motion (think leg muscles).
Due to our postion on the bike, upper body bent forward, we have other muscles in a continually shortened state (think hip muscles). This can lead to an imbalance in strenght and size of our leg muscles and hip flexors as well as our upper body (think of your shoulder/chest/back postion).
A regular massage can help by identifying these imbalance's and with the right application of techniques, restore the full range of motion to shortened muscle groups and help strenghten the weakened muscles.
I personally get very tight hips and am so relieved after a good massage when my hips feel nice and loose and my legs can move freely.
So if you cycle regularly, it is well worth spending some time on tuning the engine (your body) that drives your bike (freedom machine).
Bookings are available to suit most times, $50/hour.
Cheers, Pete.

Pic 2 is of the hip flexors and quadriceps.
Both groups are major drivers in cycling.

Hi everyone. Following is 4 reasons why massage is beneifical to you and why regular massage treatments are recommended. I know that treatments can be expensive and money is often tight, that's why i have my 1 hour treatment at $50, so we can all benifit. I have lifted this from the Massage & Myotherapy Association page (the association I belong to).

Is there any better feeling than that post-massage calm? You walk away from your appointment feeling relaxed all over, your mind is clear and you have a lazy smile plastered across your face.

Believe it or not, the benefits of regular massages are about more than those feel-good moments. Each session is a building block, training your body to maintain its relaxed state and teaching your muscles to remain loose even during high-stress periods.

Massages can have longer lasting benefits than the instant relaxation you feel. Massages can have longer lasting benefits than the instant relaxation you feel.
But this sense of internal relaxation is only the start, let's run through four key benefits of regular massage therapy.

1. Pain Relief

Committing to regular massages is a great tool for pain management. Your therapist can focus in on specific problem areas, as well as stiff muscles, and gradually loosen them with increasing blood circulation. These actions help alleviate pain tied to injuries, arthritis and a range of other conditions. After regular sessions you may see benefits like a reduction in need for pain medications.

2. Immune System Support

It's a well-known fact that people with high levels of stress are more likely to get sick more often. This stress often leads to a myriad of other negative side effects such as lack of sleep, a bad diet and a weakened immune system. Regular massage sessions help alleviate stress and, as a result, have been proven to naturally increase the immune system's cytotoxic capacity - aka its ability to fight off bacteria and infection.

3. Injury Resilience

Rehabilitating any injury can be a tiring and frustrating process. While the main goal of physical rehabilitation is to increase strength and flexibility, it often ends before the area has been returned to its full pre-injury state.

Massage plays an important role as a supplement to standard injury rehabilitation procedures. By encouraging circulatory movement and relaxing muscles, it helps the body pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs. This allows the rehabilitating injured area(s) to become more flexible and heal at an accelerated rate.

4. Improved Posture

Everyone has caught themselves slouching over their desk or slumping in a chair at some point. This poor posture can cause a lot of tension in the back and neck which is no good for our body. Proper body alignment can help improve things like digestion and even breathing capacity.

The good news is bad posture can be corrected with regular massages.

The good news is bad posture can be corrected with regular massages. When you undergo treatment from your massage therapist you allow your body to begin to reintroduce healthier movements.

The massage itself will loosen the muscles and alleviate any pain caused by your bad posture. This will enable your body to position itself in its natural-and pain-free-posture. With ongoing massage the body will begin to naturally position itself in a healthy posture, steering clear of the bad posture that was previously second-nature

Keen to get started? Then make an appointment.
Cheers, Pete.
