Return to sport after a higher grade ankle syndesmosis rupture. For Hamish ths required surgical repair with tightrope surgery. Hamish worked hard and was determined to pass his rehab to get clearance for an important soccer game. ⚽

The syndesmosis ligament is an important ligament that stabilises the ankle. It can be ruptured without the typical atfl & cfl lateral ankle ligament tears & can be missed when a patient has an ankle sprain. Fortunately now for Emma, tightrope surgery has been performed by & she is getting ready for her next hike!

Amazing effort Sandra Mitchell, who sustained a pretty bad leg fracture (fibula) and syndesmosis ligament tear in April this year. 🦴

✈️ She is smiling now after putting in a persistent & committed effort of rehab work to be able to go on her planned travels.

👌She has just got back from her trip to the Netherland & the UK where she walked about 15000 steps a day pain free!

I had a patient last week who I was treating for rehab after achillies tendon rupture... and in the session he was more concerned about the tender midfoot pain he was getting on the non-operative foot (as it has been doing all the work as he is on crutches) ...so I assessed the foot and noticed increased stiffness in the midfoot - it took me 1 minute to mobilise all the joints in his foot and free things up. I saw him again yesterday a week later ...he said "what ever you did to that foot it fixed it immediately and it hasn't come back since". 👌

All our clinicians are trained in foot and knee mobilisation - this helps to improve range of movement and release the fascial adhesion's and the connective tissue and plantar intrinsic foot muscles. It also has a nociceptor pain relief effect in the joint. This can also help to gain range of movement to help your joints have more shock attenuation to handle load.

Achilles tendon ruptures are the most common tendon rupture in the lower extremity. The injury most commonly occurs in adults in their third to fifth decade. For James his was a sudden force of speed when he went to take off on the soccer field and leading up to this (like with many of these complete tears) there were no prior warning signs, just an awareness of having tight calf muscles.
But now after 6 months he is ready to attack a few lower speed activities with martial arts, gym and chasing after his little one!
Awesome effort James on the long recovery after this injury!
