Meet Snickers and August, two charming bonded boys who bring endless energy and personality to every day.
Snickers, a handsome brown boar born on 19th April 2025, and August, his gorgeous grey companion born on 1st April 2025, have been together since they were tiny. Snickers joined August when he was just 3 weeks old, while August was about 5½ weeks, and from that moment on, the two have been inseparable. Their bond is strong, and they thrive on each other’s company, making them the perfect pair for anyone looking to adopt guinea pigs who already share a loving friendship.
Both boys are enthusiastic climbers with a particular love for perching proudly on top of their hideys, surveying their space as though they own the world. They are also incredibly active and playful, often racing around their enclosure and performing joyful “popcorning” leaps that showcase just how happy and healthy they are. Because of this, they will need a spacious home environment where they can stretch their legs, explore, and express their natural zoomie-filled personalities.
When it comes to food, these two are true foodies with a few clear favorites. Fresh cos lettuce and crisp red capsicum top their list of beloved veggies, and they always get excited when these treats are served. They also adore Pig N Mix, happily munch away on their Oxbow pellets, and of course, no day would be complete without an unlimited supply of their favorite – hay. Their enthusiasm for food not only makes them a joy to feed but also creates wonderful opportunities to bond with them.
Snickers and August are special not only because of their personalities but also because they were both born at the refuge. They’ve known safety, love, and care from the very beginning, and now they’re ready to bring that same joy to a forever home.
With their playful nature, gentle companionship, and endearing quirks, Snickers and August will make a wonderful addition to a family who can give them the space, care, and affection they deserve. These two little adventurers are more than pets – they’re a duo full of life, love, and endless entertainment.
Please note that even though both boys love cuddles, August can be a nibbler so not suited to young children.

About Us

Qld Guinea Pig Refuge (QGPR) is a not-for-profit community services organisation dedicated to supporting, rescuing, and finding homes for lost, abandoned, unwanted and mistreated guinea pigs in Queensland. QGPR is 100% volunteer and donations based, having an extraordinary and hard working team of volunteers, foster carers and other behind the scenes helpers. All these wonderful people donate their time and money to QGPR and are the back bone of this organisation.

QGPR has a NO EUTHANASIA policy. This policy extends to all guinea pigs, unless their medical conditions are so severe that treatment is not possible and there is no other option. We will always put 100% into the treatment and care of our guinea pigs in order to get them back to the best of health. QGPR will take any ill, injured, unwanted or found guinea pigs from the public. These guinea pigs will be treated and/or fostered, and then re-homed under strict adoption procedures. In extreme cases, QGPR may accept cases from interstate where another supported rescue cannot help. We believe that every guinea pig deserves their voice to be heard and to be given a chance, and we will listen to any requests for help.

Our refuge is Brisbane based; however we have foster carers and volunteers spread across various areas of Queensland.
