Farewell Alice, beloved staff member of nearly two decades 💜

On Thursday August 21 marked a very special milestone, 18 years since Alice Deman first joined Clarence Estate.

After nearly two decades of dedication, Alice has now resigned from her role, and the following Thursday, we came together over morning tea to thank her and wish her well.

Alice has been truly appreciated by all; a dedicated, hardworking, and outstanding asset to Clarence Estate.

While we’ll miss having her as part of the team, it’s not goodbye just yet! We’ll continue to see Alice visiting with her students from Great Southern TAFE, where she continues her role as a lecturer.

From all of us here at Clarence Estate, thank you, Alice, for your time, your effort, and the incredible 18 years you’ve given.

Young and old learn from each other 🥰

Our residents had a lovely time visiting the children at a local Early Learning Day Care Centre. They joined in a variety of activities, sang along to some well-known children's songs, and shared plenty of smiles and laughter.

It is always so nice to see all having fun, making friendships and seeing the simple joy of connecting across generations.

Cookies bring the smiles on R U OK? Day 🍪

R U OK? Day is about starting conversations that could change a life.

It's a chance to take a break, check in with your mates, and share a moment together - and that's exactly what Clarence Estate Residential and Home Care did today by hosting a morning tea in both their residential and home care buildings.

A friendly reminder for all to look out for one another and keep up healthy communications.

A big thank you to our kitchen for supplying morning tea and for the gorgeous biscuits provided for our staff.

Father's Day cards crafting fun 💌

In the lead-up to Father’s Day on September 7, all our residents at Clarence Estate were invited to join in a fun card-making activity.

There were three different card designs to choose from, and while it was a smaller group this month, those who joined in really got creative!

Some cards were folded into clever little t-shirts, finished off with bowties, neckties, and buttons.

Others were decorated with glasses, googly eyes, and moustaches for a bit of fun.

Stuart (pictured) looked pretty sharp with his moustache cut-out, we think he wore it well!

WA Ballet visits Clarence Estate 🩰

Before heading to Albany on their regional tour, Australian Ballet reached out to see if our home would like to be part of the fun, and of course, we said yes!

Both our residential and community clients were treated to a special seated ballet dance class, held right in our residential home and community centre.

With gentle music playing, everyone followed along step-by-step , stretching, moving, and smiling their way through the class. The highlight? Getting to dance right alongside the WA Ballet!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this wonderful experience possible.

We would like to acknowledgment April Vardy who was in contact to ensure these sessions went ahead. It’s a memory we’ll be talking about for a long time.

Also a shout out to Jenny Feast Photography for snapping some wonderful pictures throughout the morning in our residential session.

Earlier this month, our residents took part in a lively game of Chair Hockey as part of their afternoon activity. 🏒 It’s always wonderful to see so much laughter, energy and teamwork in the room! 💙

We rotate Chair Hockey with a range of other exciting and active games that keep our residents moving in fun and engaging ways. Staying active is such an important part of life at Clarence Estate, and we love making it enjoyable too. 🌟

Discovering our beautiful region together ⛵️

Each month, our clients from Mount Barker and Denmark enjoy a scenic and social bus outings across the beautiful Great Southern region. These outings offer a wonderful opportunity to explore local attractions.

This month, our Denmark group ventured to the breathtaking Albany Gap (pictured), where they soaked in the spectacular views and fresh coastal air. After taking in the natural beauty, they made their way to the Whalers Cafe for a relaxed and tasty lunch. The day was greatly enjoyed by all who attended.

All look forward to next month's adventures and continuing to discover the gems of our region.

Anyone for tennis? 🎾

With Wimbledon in full swing, we were inspired to hold our very own seated tennis tournament, and what a fantastic time we had!

Laughter echoed through the room as everyone got involved, showing off their skills in a fun filled session. From friendly competition to enthusiastic cheering, it was the place to be.

It was a wonderful way to stay active, social, and celebrate the joy of sport, Wimbledon style!

We Took the Plunge for MND! 💧💦

What a day!

11 of our amazing staff members braved the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). With music by Noreen, fun facts/quiz questions, and lots of laughs, our community of residents, families, friends, and staff came together for a cause that’s close to many hearts.

For some, like Bethanie our OTA whose father had MND, this was more than just a fundraiser - it was personal.

Thanks to everyone who supported, donated, and cheered us on. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue to raise awareness for MND!
