Our team are excited to meet with Palmerston and Pioneer Health next week.
Drug and alcohol counselling service Palmerston is taking healthcare to the streets with the launch of a new outreach service for the Great Southern.
The partnership with Pioneer Health will provide those experiencing homelessness with on-the-ground clinical care, harm reduction education, needle exchange, psychosocial support and food.
The project looks to overcome stigma, cost and transport challenges by meeting those in need where they are, rather than expecting them to come to the service.
"It's about supporting people who are homeless and reducing those barriers to healthcare, bringing healthcare to the person and not expecting the person to go to services," Great Southern regional manager Tina Edwards-Pope said.
"I'd like to see better healthcare for those doing it tough."
The government-funded service was made possible with support from Community Bank Albany which funded the purchase of the vehicle.
