Join Us For the Launch of WA Mental Health Week! πŸŽ©πŸ‘’πŸ§πŸŽΆπŸ•ΊπŸ‘₯️

The Mad Hatter Tea Party hosted by headspace Albany is a free community event held during the school holidays on Friday 3rd October from 10am-1pm at the Albany Town Square. Everyone is welcome to attend!

For the 12th year running, the Mad Hatter event has been a valuable opportunity to unite in celebrating mental health awareness, connecting families and community members with the local mental health organisations available, and breaking down the stigma around mental health – while having some fun with the colourful Best Hat Parade and Competition.

At the Town Square you can expect to see more than 20 stalls with free activities, live performances by local performers, interactive games, face painting, and free food including sausage sizzle and cupcakes.

This year marks a major milestone with the Western Australian Association for Mental Health partnering to launch WA Mental Health Week 2025 from the Mad Hatter event. It’s a proud moment for regional WA and we’d love the community to join us for the biggest Tea Party yet!

Keep up-to-date with the latest information about stalls, free activities, free food and the entertainment line-up here or email info@headspacealbany.com.au

It's R U OK? Day 2025 πŸ’›πŸŒΌ

But really, life's ups and downs don't just happen today. Ask R U OK? today, tomorrow any day. Because a conversation could change a life.

You don't need to have all the answers. Just listening and being there matters.

Thanks to Hazbeanz Finestkind Coffee for hosting the R U OK? Day community event and to Albany Senior High School for inviting us to join in their R U OK? Day school activities, offering a chance to show our support for students, teachers and families in the local community πŸ’›β˜•οΈπŸ§πŸŒž.

This year's theme " Challenging the narrative of su***de" challenges us to shift from silence and stigma around mental health towards open and honest conversations about su***de, understanding and action.

If you or someone you know is suicidal and needs urgent support, reach out to:
πŸ’š Lifeline 13 11 14
πŸ’š Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800

Today marks World Su***de Prevention Day, a time dedicated to raising awareness, fostering change and providing support to all those with lived or living experience of su***de.

At headspace, we recognise the vital role that family, friends, schools and communities can have in helping a young person going through a tough time.

This year’s theme, Changing the Narrative of Su***de, is a reminder of how important it is to engage in open and honest discussions about su***de. Initiating these conversations can help break down stigma, raise awareness and create a culture of better understanding and support within communities.

headspace is here for all young people and families in Australia.

We know that current events in the news right now can feel distressing, especially for multicultural young people, families and communities.

If you or the young person in your life is feeling unsettled, unwelcome, or like your identity is being questioned, know that you are not alone. You deserve to feel safe, respected and supported β€” always.

If your young person needs support, we encourage you over the coming days to:

πŸ’š Connect with your trusted community, cultural traditions and engage in collective healing practices that help you and your young person feel strong.

πŸ’š Connect with your local headspace centre > https://headspace.org.au/headspace-centres

πŸ’š Access free support online and over the phone through eheadspace > https://headspace.org.au/online-and-phone-support/connect-with-us

πŸ’š Explore our Strength in My Roots resources, which celebrate the resilience of multicultural young people and the power of culture, community and identity > https://headspace.org.au/our-impact/campaigns/cultural-identity

πŸ’œ Wear It Purple Day – Bold Voices. Bright Futures. πŸ’œ

This Wear It Purple Day, we’re celebrating and reflecting on what makes us bold and hopeful for the future! 🌈

At headspace Albany, we’ve set up a community noticeboard with purple post-it notes for young people, families, and our team to share their thoughts on:
✨ Who are your supportive people?
✨ What makes you feel bold in your identity?
✨ What are your hopes for the future?

We also have some Wear It Purple theme colouring-in pages for everyone to get creative and show their bold colours!

We’d love to see our community’s voices shine bright! Pop by the centre and add your thoughts or do some colouring. πŸ’œ
