If your bladder feels urgent all the time, there’s usually a reason why.

But just because it’s common doesn’t mean you have to live with it.

Bladder overactivity can feel frustrating, unpredictable, and sometimes even a little overwhelming. Especially when it starts impacting your confidence or daily routine.

The good news is, your bladder can be retrained.

Pelvic health physiotherapy looks at the full picture, including your bladder habits, pelvic floor, and nervous system, to help you regain control in a way that feels manageable and realistic.

With the right support, small changes can make a big difference.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone and help is available.

Pelvic pain is something so many people experience… but it’s not something you have to just live with.

It can show up in ways that feel confusing, frustrating, and sometimes even isolating. Especially when you’re not sure what’s causing it or where to start.

The good news is, there is support and I promise it's not as scary as you think 🤍

Pelvic health physiotherapy takes a whole body approach, helping you understand what’s happening, reduce symptoms, and feel more confident in your body again.

Whether it’s pain, tension, bladder or bowel changes, or discomfort during intimacy, these are all things we can gently work through together.

You don’t have to push through or figure it out on your own.

Because small, consistent support can make a big difference over time.

If you’ve ever wondered what might actually help (and what’s worth skipping), this is a really good place to start.

Download the Pelvy App Before Your Appointment

To help you get the most out of your pelvic floor assessment, I encourage all patients to download the Pelvy app before their appointment. This app allows me to provide you with electronic programs and reminders (if you would like them).

The Pelvy app has been developed by a Continence and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist and acts as a support to the education and exercises I provide in the clinic, so you have clear guidance to refer back to at home.

How to download the Pelvy app:

1️⃣ Open the App Store or Google Play Store
2️⃣ Search for Pelvy
3️⃣ Tap Download
4️⃣ Create your profile
5️⃣ Bring the app with you to your appointment

Why download it before your appointment?

Having the app ready beforehand means we can:
✔️ Use the app together during your session
✔️ Set up your personalised program straight away
✔️ Ensure you understand your exercises before you leave
✔️ Give you ongoing support between appointments

The Pelvy app becomes a handy reference tool, helping reinforce the information, exercises and advice we cover in clinic so you feel more confident continuing your program at home.

Downloading the app ahead of time helps us make the most of your appointment and ensures you leave with everything set up and ready to go.

One of the most common questions I get is how pelvic floor assessments actually work.

For many people, an internal exam can be part of the assessment, but it’s not the only way.

I always take the time to talk through your options, explain everything clearly, and make sure you feel comfortable and in control every step of the way.

There are external assessment options too, and we can still gather really valuable information without anything you’re not ready for.

Your comfort, consent and understanding will always come first.

Pelvic pain is complex, but understanding and having a good support team can make a big difference.

Pain is not just about what’s happening in your pelvis.
It’s about how your whole system is responding.

When we start to understand this, we open up more ways to support change.

I get asked all the time… “what’s the best pelvic floor exercise?”

And the truth is, it’s not just one.

Your pelvic floor needs variety, just like the rest of your body. It needs to learn how to switch on, fully relax, and respond to different loads and positions over time.

That’s why I don’t just prescribe one exercise and send you on your way. We build things up gradually, layering in progressions that actually match your body, your lifestyle, and your goals.

Sometimes that starts really small. Sometimes it progresses into strength, coordination and control in more dynamic movements.

Because real life isn’t lying on your back doing squeezes, it’s lifting, walking, running, playing with your kids, getting through your day feeling confident in your body.

If you’re not sure where to start, or you’ve been doing the same exercises for years without change, there’s usually a reason.

Physio isn't always about big movements.

The art of doing small things.

In physiotherapy, progress is often found in the small movements.

The gentle exercises.
The tiny adjustments.
The consistency that builds strength and confidence over time.

What might look simple from the outside can be incredibly powerful for the body. These small movements help rebuild stability, restore function, and support the way your body is designed to move.

Recovery and strength don’t always come from doing more.
Sometimes they come from doing the right things, regularly.

If you’re not sure where to start, physiotherapy can help guide those first small steps.

Fibre is one of those things we hear about all the time… but many people don’t realise there are different types of fibre, and they work in different ways in the body.

Soluble fibre dissolves in water and helps soften stool, support gut bacteria and slow digestion.
Insoluble fibre adds bulk and helps move things through the bowel more efficiently.

Both play an important role in healthy digestion and pelvic floor health.

When fibre intake is too low, it can contribute to constipation, straining and increased pressure on the pelvic floor. Finding a good balance of soluble and insoluble fibre, along with enough water, can make a big difference to bowel health.

If you’re unsure where to start or have questions about bowel health and the pelvic floor, support is available.
