Ingrown toenails can be an uncomfortable and painful condition. They occur when the edges of the toenail grow into the surrounding skin, leading to redness, swelling, tenderness, and even infection.
It can be caused through various factors including incorrect cutting technique, the nail being too wide for the toe, trauma to the toe, fungal infection, thickening of the nails or very "involuted," (deep set) nail sides.
Not all ingrown toenails require partial nail avulsion. The treatment for an ingrown toenail depends on the severity and the extent of the condition. In less severe cases, conservative treatments may be sufficient. These can include soaking the foot in warm water or getting a podiatrist to gently clip/lift the ingrown edge of the nail using a sterile instrument.
😶🌫️HOW TO AVOID INGROWN TOENAILS 😶🌫️
1️⃣ Cut your nails with the contour of your nail/toe and do not "dig in" at the sides
2️⃣ Opt to file the "corners" and edges of the nail after cutting to avoid creating a nail spike with clippers
3️⃣ Wear shoes which are flexible in the toes and wide enough so the sides of the shoe are not pressing the toes together
4️⃣ Purchase the correct sized socks, yes, even tight socks can cause pain with an ingrown toenail
5️⃣ Avoid walking in shoes without the toes covered. Ingrown nails/pain can be caused by single or repeated trauma causing changes in the nail or pressure to the skin.
6️⃣ Ensure your feet are kept clean, and free of tinea/fungus. Fungus in the nail (Onychomycosis) can occasionally thicken the nails which can cause shape changes and extra pressure on the surrounding skin, resulting in pain
7️⃣ Seek Podiatrist care to ensure your nails and skin are maintained correctly and safely to reduce the chances of ingrown nails occurring.
👋🏻Do not leave your toe too long before seeking help

Podiatry innovations with 3D scanners and footwear
Traditional foot measurement methods have limitations, leading to discomfort in ill-fitting footwear. Enter 3D scanning tech – a game-changer for all seeking improved foot care.
3D scanning technology, captures precise measurements of the foot's length, width, and arch structure, providing podiatrists with a comprehensive understanding of each patient's unique foot anatomy. Not only does it measure the shape and size of the foot, but it can also measure the pressure emitted by the foot, giving accurate results on the pressure spread.
This fusion of podiatry and 3D scanning promises a future where stylish footwear meets individual foot anatomy. Embracing these advancements enhances your comfort and aligns with our commitment to personalized foot care.
Concerned about your feet? Visit us at Foot Body Sole: 108 Bridport Street, Albert Park, or drop us a message! Our expert footwear fitters are ready to help you find the perfect shoe for your comfort.

Warts are small, firm, grainy bumps that are rough to the touch. These are growths on the skin that are caused by a virus called Human Papillomavirus.
We cannot void catching the virus, just as we cannot say we will not get sick. However, we can decrease the chances of them by being more aware in public areas where we can catch the virus and strengthen our immune system.
Also, the virus is tricky to treat so ensuring you are getting professional medical help will decrease the chances for it to return.
The below are some treatments for warts:
🔸Swift Microwave Therapy: Boosts the immune system to recognize HPV by heating infected cells. Usually, 3-4 sessions are needed for the best results.
🔸Nerve Block and Needling: Numbs the area with local anesthesia and stimulates the immune response by probing the wart with a sterile needle.
🔸Sharps Debridement: Induces inflammation by pricking and using nitric acid, silver nitrate, and salicylic acid. Takes a few weeks (4-8).
🔸Nitric Acid: Burns and effectively treats plantar warts, causing some discomfort.
🔸Salicylic Acid: Gently removes warts by exfoliating skin cells, possibly stimulating healthy skin cell production.
🔸Liquid Nitrogen: Freezes the wart, may require multiple weekly sessions and can be uncomfortable.
🔸Chemical Treatments: Need dressing, and 4-7 visits are typically needed to resolve warts.
Disclaimer:
The above treatment options are of general nature. It is not professional medical advice. We recommend consulting a qualified medical practitioner for your needs.
If you or someone you know needs some help with their warts, book an consultation with us.

Warts are skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Different types of HPV cause warts on various body parts, often spreading through direct or indirect contact, a weakened immune system, or damaged skin. The virus is tricky, camouflaging itself effectively, making it challenging for the immune system to recognize.
Warts, often on feet or between toes, are painless but cause mild discomfort, impacting daily life and confidence. Confusingly similar to corns, a quick test helps differentiate: pinch – if it hurts, it's likely a wart; apply pressure – if it hurts, it's probably a corn.
Warts often spread in shared spaces like swimming pools or changing rooms, so we always see an increase of them during Summer.
If you or someone you know needs some help with their warts, book an consultation with us and let us help!

Mid-back pain, located in the thoracic spine, often results from irritation or injury to nerves, muscles, ligaments, and disks. Lifestyle factors, such as poor posture, obesity, sedentary habits, and smoking, contribute to discomfort, often due to overstretching muscles or ligaments. Symptoms range from muscle aches to numbness and weakness.
**Common Causes:**
1. **Poor Posture:** Repeated pressure on the spine from slouching or poor alignment.
2. **Obesity:** Increased stress on the back, elevating the risk of pain.
3. **Muscle Sprain or Strain:** Resulting from improper heavy lifting or sudden movements.
4. **Fall or Injury:** Though less common, trauma can cause mid-back pain, particularly in older individuals.
5. **Herniated Disk:** Inner disk pressure on a nerve leads to pain, tingling, or numbness.
6. **Osteoarthritis:** Breakdown of cartilage, causing bones to rub together, leading to pain and disability.
7. **Aging:** Natural aging processes, like bone thinning and reduced joint fluid, contribute to back pain.
8. **Fractures:** Trauma-related fractures, more likely in those with reduced bone density, causing severe pain.
*Preventing Middle Back Pain:*
While it may be challenging to prevent accidents causing back pain, several steps can strengthen back muscles and protect the spine:
1. **Change Sleeping Position:** Avoid misaligning the spine by trying positions such as sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees or in the fetal position.
2. **Adjust Posture:** Maintain good posture by standing and sitting straight, adjusting chair height, aligning computer screens to eye level, or using a standing desk.
3. **See a Physical Therapist:** Work on core strength, posture, spinal mobility, and endurance with a personalized exercise program to improve strength and movement.
By incorporating these practices, you can reduce the risk of middle back pain and promote overall spine health.
04/02/2024
Mid back pain can be really painful and limit your movement. There are various reasons for it, like poor posture, sitting for too long, weak back muscles, tight muscles, trauma, fractures, and joint misalignments.
**How Chiropractic Care Can Help:**
1. **Assessment:** We'll figure out the root cause by checking your musculoskeletal and nervous system health through imaging if needed.
2. **Treatment:** We'll use spinal manipulation to restore movement, reduce inflammation, and ease muscle tension. Ice therapy and laser may be used for faster recovery.
3. **Rehabilitation:** After reducing pain, we'll start a plan to strengthen muscles around your spine and pelvis, giving more stability and preventing future issues.
**Electrotherapy:**
- **Shockwave:** Uses sound waves to stimulate healing by causing micro-trauma, promoting collagen production, and increasing blood flow for a quicker recovery.
- **Interferential:** An electrical current stimulates muscles, reduces swelling, and decreases pain intensity during rehabilitation.
- **Laser:** Low-level laser light helps reduce inflammation, pain, and aids in wound healing.
- **Ultrasound:** Pulses of sound waves pe*****te tissues, reducing inflammation and pain.
These therapies can be effective for stubborn conditions caused by trauma, accidents, or prolonged poor posture.
