The Back Dr Shellharbour has relocated to Albion Park Rail just 10 minutes from Shellharbour. With more screen time, one pattern we’re seeing more often is tech neck. Over time, this can affect posture and place extra load through the neck and upper back. Some kids may notice discomfort or neck pain, while the longer-term effects are still being understood.

The key is awareness and early support.

This January, we’re offering back to school kids check ups to assess posture and help families understand what’s going on. Kids who come in also go in the draw to win a Chiro 2 ergonomic backpack to start the school year strong.

Spine Exercise

When your back feels stiff or locked up, the goal isn’t force.
It’s gentle movement, breath, and circulation.

This phase focuses on restoring motion and reducing tension before anything more demanding.

1️⃣ Neutral Spine Setup

→ Hands under shoulders, knees under hips. This is your starting point and reference position for control.

2️⃣ Angry Cat

→ Push through the shoulder blades and round the spine. Improves flexion and helps release built-up tension through the mid and upper back.

3️⃣ Howling Wolf

→ Hips tilt, chest opens, chin lifts. Encourages spinal extension and helps counter long periods of sitting or slouching.

👉 Move within comfort. No forcing or rushing.
👉 This is Phase 1 for stiff backs. Mobility comes before strength.

🔑 Slow movement + breath beats stretching harder.
