How good are these goggles! This little fish has been working on building his strength swimming horizontally through the water and diving down to collect toys, but was finding the water stings his eyes.
The family bought these mask style goggles from Kmart and they are a winner! Didn’t fog up, comfortable on the face, kept the water out well, helped him see clearly. He loved them so much he didn’t want to take them off!

Toy of the Week - BEAN BAGS!

Super simple, safe for indoors and endless options!

Bean bags are a great low-cost tool to work on kids gross motor skills including hand-eye coordination, motor planning, crossing midline and learning graded force (throwing “just right”).

We use them for tossing into targets, balancing on different body parts, walking around with them on your head, obstacle courses, squatting to pick up, stepping stones, and more!

They’re easy to adapt for all ages and abilities – from early intervention right through to school-aged kids 🎯

A good one for a rainy day!

We would like to introduce our new Admin Officer, Julie! 🌟

Julie is the friendly face and calm voice you’ll hear on the phone when you call us. She’ll be helping keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes so our therapists can focus on supporting our amazing kids and families.

We’re so excited to have her as part of our team! 🎉

🚲✨ Toy of the Week: Balance Bike! ✨🚲

And we are back into things after an extended break!!

These little bikes are amazing for:
🌟 Developing balance and postural control
🌟 Building core and lower limb strength
🌟 Encouraging independence and confidence
🌟 Preparing for riding a pedal bike (often without training wheels!)

Because there are no pedals, kids can focus on weight shifting, steering and finding their centre of gravity. It’s such a fun and functional way to work on gross motor skills and a great foundation to jump straight into a two-wheeled pedal bike.

You can adjust the challenge by:
➡️ Riding on different surfaces (grass, concrete, gentle slopes)
➡️ Setting up obstacle courses (chalk on the footpath)
➡️ Practising stopping and starting
➡️ Adding games like “red light, green light”

Movement + play + fresh air = a big physio win 🙌

Would your little one give this a go?

🧸 Toy of the Week: Recyclable Bottles ♻️

Who knew a simple milk bottle could be such a great toy? 🥛✨
Plastic recyclable bottles (like milk cartons) are amazing for water play and fun!

💪 Why we love them:
• Supports strength building - almost a mini-gym workout with weighted squats, weighted walking and arm movements!
• Builds grip strength by lifting and pouring
• Encourages bilateral coordination and midline play
• Heavy work supports body regulation
• Encourages fine motor movements to get the lids on and off
• Promotes creativity, problem-solving and independence

💡 Play ideas:
Set up water stations where they fill up the containers and bottles, walk across to another station and tip it out. 💧
Put the stations at different levels (one on floor, one on table) to encourage squatting and standing play.
Could even give toys a ‘shower’ and a wash! 🚿
Have the child carry a bucket of water and cloth around to wash items in the yard like the fence or some rocks. 🧼
Or, use as a watering can and wander around the garden tipping water on the plants.

Simple, sustainable and SO effective 🌱👏
Sometimes the best toys are already in your recycling bin!

What have you done with some recyclables?

💦 Toy of the Week: Reusable Water Balls! 💦

As a paediatric physiotherapist, I love when a simple toy supports so many developmental skills — and these water balls are a winner! 🙌✨

These squishy, colourful balls are perfect for:
🌈 Hand strengthening & grip development
🤲 Bilateral coordination
🚀 Reaching, throwing & catching practice
💧 Sensory exploration
🏃 Getting kids active and moving!

Great for a wide range of ages. In and out play, throwing at each other, collecting, throwing at the fence, squishing with your feet! What other ways could you use them? 👇

We have been working on strength, balance and body awareness with our little friend here, and set up a tape obstacle course in her passageway in one of our sessions.
She now frequently requests for the set up with mum, and will insist on showing dad how she does it when he gets home from work!
Nothing like a bit of painters tape for fun and strength building play!

Crocs have become a popular footwear choice but they aren’t always the best option for your child. We get that they are convenient, waterproof and kids can put them on themselves but…

✖️They are a wide open shoe and don’t provide snug support around the foot when you walk, meaning the foot is sliding around in the shoe with each step. Kids then have to compensate with toe gripping or walking more at the front of their feet.
✖️The low floppy back strap provides minimal extra support. Kids benefit from a firm heel cup to hold their heel in the shoe and allow a good walking pattern.
✖️Kids feet get sweaty! The rubber becomes sticky and slimy as they walk which can create rubbing and blisters
✖️Everything seems to slip in to the crocs as they walk - leaves, rocks, barkchips, you name it you end up spending lots of time shaking out a shoe as you go!!

Instead, we would pick:
⭐️ Sandals like in the picture with a firm heel cup or a thick adjustable strap, and snug support around the mid-foot, with some front foot protection.
There are lots of Velcro options which make it easier for those independent friends who like to participate!
⭐️ Runners - pick ones that are lightweight but sturdy with a proper sole and the firm heel cup
